The Spellblade is a light-armored melee damage class that fights with infused weapons and a teleport. The official archetype phrase is Highly-Mobile Magic Swordsman, and the class is described as the most caster-like of the hybrid classes without pulling away from the front line. It was the first class to receive a published rework.

Identity and role
A Spellblade draws on the telekinetic, electric and arcane schools, shifts between weapon infusions that each carry their own damage type and proc effects, and manages infusion cooldowns as its primary combat cycle. It also places stationary arcane fields and explosive zones, teleports behind a target or blinks away, and uses telekinetic knockback, root and repositioning.
The stated direction removes elemental magic, removes the one-off pet in line with the roster-wide pet consolidation, and reduces the off-tank focus. Teleportation is treated as a genuine combat mechanic rather than a utility footnote, which is the clearest single difference between this class and the other melee hybrids.
The rework named the problems it was solving. Previous iterations either relied too much on luck to get procs, or added flat damage to every attack in a way that was heavily biased toward fast weapons, and Unstable Barrier anchored a large part of the class's damage on stealing hits from the tank. Those are the three things the infusion system and the reworked Kinetic Ward replace.
Playable races
The Spellblade is open to Deep Dwarf, Deep Elf, Dwarf, Gnome, High Elf and Human.
That list covers the full designed race roster. Deep Dwarf and High Elf are designed but are not among the races playable at Early Access launch on October 1 2026, so the practical choice at launch is the remainder of the list.
Infusions
Infusions are stance-like buffs that activate procs on your melee attacks and can be discharged, or conducted, for a burst. Each also reduces the mana cost of one linked ability, so the infusion you carry changes which spell is cheap.
Infusion | Melee proc | Cheaper ability | Conduct effect |
|---|---|---|---|
Arcane Infusion | Chance to deal Magic Damage on melee, with a lesser chance to activate Arcane Frailty, which decreases Magic Resistance. | Arcane Spear | Detonates arcane energy for Magic Damage. |
Electric Infusion | Chance to deal Electric Damage on melee, with a lesser chance to stun. | Discharge | Arcs electric energy through the target, dealing Electric Damage and stunning it before arcing to another target. |
Telekinetic Infusion | Chance to deal Physical Damage on melee, with a lesser chance to activate Kinetic Siphon, which decreases the target's Movement Speed and Agility while increasing yours by the same amount. | Kinetic Ward | Knockback and immobilise. |
Conduit is the ability that fires the discharge. Activating it places your current infusion on a long cooldown and all other infusions on a short one, so conducting is a commitment: you give up the infusion you were running and cannot immediately replace it with your preferred alternative.
Offense
Ability | Effect |
|---|---|
Infused Slash | The standard attack. Deals bonus damage based on your current infusion. |
Arcane Spear | A ranged attack, useful for pulling. |
Discharge | A short-range attack. |
Maelstrom | A high-level cooldown granting Attack Speed and an increased chance to activate infusion effects. |
Defense and fields
Ability | Effect |
|---|---|
Kinetic Ward | Formerly Unstable Barrier. Armor Class plus damage absorption, scaling with Intelligence. The offensive bonus has been removed, making it a purely defensive option. |
Deflection | Greatly increases your Parry chance, and each parried attack triggers your current infusion effect. |
Implosion | Decreases Block, Dodge and Parry chance. On expiry the vacuum implodes, dealing Physical Damage to the target and those around it. |
Static Field | Periodic Electric Damage in an area at your feet. |
Mobility
Ability | Effect |
|---|---|
Phase Strike | An instant teleport behind the target that deals damage, activates your current infusion effect, removes all stun and immobilize effects, and can be used while stunned or immobilized. |
Seclusion | Used at melee range. Reduces your Threat against the target, immobilises it, and teleports you a short distance away. |
Phase Strike being usable while stunned or immobilized is the sort of detail that decides whether a class survives a bad pull. Seclusion is the other half of the same idea, dropping threat and putting distance between you and a fight you are losing. See Combat and Death Penalty.
Group value
Class details below come from the ability rework that rolled onto the closed beta servers through 2026. The developers state plainly that there is a high probability some aspects will change before they reach the beta servers, so treat specific ability behaviour as a snapshot of the beta build rather than a settled launch state.
Aura of the Arcane grants group Intelligence and Spell Damage dealt, which makes the Spellblade one of the few melee classes that improves the casters standing behind it. Combined with its knockback, root and repositioning tools, it fills a hybrid seat rather than competing directly with the Monk or Rogue for pure damage.
The Spellblade is not one of the seven true caster classes, so it does not receive cantrips. See Classes for the roster-wide picture, Grouping for how groups work, and Items and Equipment for weapons and gear.
