Elementalist
September 16, 2026 at 02:39 PM
Initial version (2026-09-16)
The Elementalist binds elemental servants and fights through them. The official archetype phrase is Elemental Binder, and the rework describes the class outright as the game's most pet-focused class. It is one of the seven true caster classes, it performs well solo because its companion can tank, and its damage is built around spells that route through the companion rather than around a bigger nuke.
Field | Detail |
|---|---|
Archetype | Elemental Binder |
Roles | Magic DPS, Pet |
Playable races | Deep Dwarf, Deep Elf, Deep Gnome, Dwarf, Gnome, High Elf, Human, Ogre |
Armor and weapons | Earlier class documentation, written before the 2026 rework, describes Elementalists as wearing cloth armor with limited access to melee weaponry, often preferring staves, wands and daggers. |
Rework status | Detailed rework published and shipped to the closed beta servers in update 0.29.0.0 on September 10 2026 |
The class covers fire, water, earth and air. Its companion fulfils a different role depending on which element you summon, and the spell list is written so that spells and pet reinforce each other: elemental debuffs land, procs trigger, and imbued effects stack. The Elementalist also has innate elemental resistances tied to its chosen school, and summons elemental weapons and focused utility items for itself and for other players.
One stated plan was reversed outright. The class page lists generic convenience conjurations under what the class would have less of. That did not happen: food, drink, bandages, manastones and the elemental weapon summon lines all carried through essentially unchanged, because Elementalist players valued them. Treat the class page bullet as superseded.
The Elementalist is open to Deep Dwarf, Deep Elf, Deep Gnome, Dwarf, Gnome, High Elf, Human and Ogre.
That list covers the full designed race roster. Deep Dwarf and High Elf are designed but are not among the races playable at Early Access launch on October 1 2026, so the practical choice at launch is the remainder of the list.
There are four servants, one each for Water, Earth, Fire and Air. The companion now stays in sync with your own level when summoned, up to the maximum for that summoning spell.
The upgrade schedule changed with the rework. You no longer get pet upgrade ranks for all four pets every four levels. Instead you unlock all pet types by level 12, and get a new rank every 16th level. The worked example the team gave: a rank 1 Water Pet summons a pet from level 1 to 15 based on your own level, and rank 2 arrives at level 16 and summons Water Pets from level 16 to 31.
Pet ability | Effect |
|---|---|
Summon Companion | Summons the elemental servant of your chosen element. |
Elemental Empowerment | Pet Attack Speed as a stacking haste, shares a portion of your own Intelligence with the pet, and restores its Health over time. Mana intensive, and stacks with the long-duration Elemental Fury line. |
Elemental Fury | A long-duration pet buff granting attack speed and Strength. |
Elemental Resurgence | Your next companion-summoning spell resolves in a fraction of its normal time and for less mana. |
Speedy Companion | Increases pet Movement Speed. |
Heal the Elements | Heals the companion. |
Fount of Mana | A Water Pet party mana regeneration aura, updated to stack with Primary Mana Regeneration spells. |
Spell | Effect |
|---|---|
Companion Strike | You spend the mana and your companion delivers the hit. It carries the companion's element, deals extra damage against elemental creatures, and increases in damage based on the pet's Intelligence. Described as the biggest hit for the mana cost, and it upgrades more often than the classic Blast nuke. |
Elemental Blast | The primary nuke. It always deals Magic Damage, and with a companion summoned it also deals damage in that companion's element plus a matched bonus effect: a burn, a chill, a snare, or a casting slow, depending on which companion you brought. |
Flameburst | The level 1 nuke, replaced by the Elemental Flash line at later levels. |
Companion Strike being the main damage dealer is the clearest expression of the class design. An Elementalist without a pet is not a diminished caster, it is a caster missing half its spell effects.
Spell | Effect |
|---|---|
Elemental Spellshield | A self-buff merging the old Spellshield, Water Shield and Sense Magic lines: Health, Armor Class, Magic Resistance, Cold and Fire Resistance, seeing magical effects when considering targets, and attackers who strike you are chilled and slowed. |
Earth Mallet, Fire Staff, Water Trident, Wind Blade | The elemental weapon summons, retained unchanged. |
Ring of Water Breathing | The one genuinely new elemental conjuration. Grants Enduring Breath when worn. |
Summon Food and Drink, Summon Bandages, Summon Manastones | Retained convenience conjurations. |
Master of Elements, Charm the Elements, Fear the Elements, Lull the Elements | Control over elemental creatures. |
Cold and Fire Protection and Resistance, Element Break, Dispel Magic | Protective and dispelling coverage. |
Gate, Soulbind, Polar Alignment: North, Reclaim Essence, See Invisibility, Sense Magic | Utility retained from before the rework. See Travel. |
Removed: the old escalating fire nuke chain from Fireburst through Fires of Eth; the Repel the Elements through Devastate the Elements line, merged into Strike and Blast as a bonus; and Invisibility versus Elementals.
Class details below come from the ability rework that rolled onto the closed beta servers through 2026. The developers state plainly that there is a high probability some aspects will change before they reach the beta servers, so treat specific ability behaviour as a snapshot of the beta build rather than a settled launch state.
Elementalists are one of the seven true caster classes, so they receive cantrips and keep one memorised spell through death, with the first at level 4. See Death Penalty.
Against the Necromancer, which is the other heavily pet-based caster, the team has said the two are being given a more distinct interaction tempo. The Elementalist's version is element selection and spell-through-pet damage. In a group it contributes damage, a mana regeneration aura from the Water Pet, summoned food, drink, bandages and manastones for everyone, and summoned weapons. See Grouping, Items and Equipment, Combat and Classes.
