New Game Plus is available in Marvel's Wolverine at launch rather than in a later update, and it is started from Nightmare Cabin, the hub that also holds Mission Replay and the Nightmare Challenges score attack mode.
What carries over
Game director Mike Daly has confirmed that a New Game Plus run carries all progression over. Official material adds that it is not simply a replay at your existing power level: a second run has exclusive Techniques of its own and raises the level caps rather than leaving them where the first run ended.
Element | On a New Game Plus run |
|---|---|
Progression | Carried over in full |
Techniques | Exclusive Techniques unavailable on a first run |
Level caps | Raised above the first run's ceilings |
A second run adds Adaptations not available on a first run at all | |
Modifiers | Optional, mixed and matched on top of the run |
The caps it raises
Two ceilings show up in the game's own trophy requirements: Player Level caps at 36 and Adaptation Level caps at 10. Both figures come from trophy text rather than from a published progression chart, and the trophy that rewards the level climb is listed at 35 in one account and 36 in another, so treat that particular threshold as unsettled until the game is out. See Trophies and Progression and Upgrades.
Modifiers
Optional modifiers can be mixed and matched on top of a New Game Plus run. Daly has described them as able to accelerate combat to the point of feeling extreme in both directions, so they are not purely a difficulty increase. As of September 13, 2026, checked against the PlayStation product page, the studio's own posts and every released trailer, the individual modifiers have not been named.
Where it sits
Nightmare Cabin holds the game's launch feature set: New Game Plus, Mission Replay and Nightmare Challenges are there from day one, with Photo Mode arriving in the day one update. Mission Replay is the other way back into finished content, returning you to any completed mission with a stage selector that tracks what is left in each one. See Collectibles.
