Lords of the Fallen II is a soulslike, and its combat has been rebuilt to be faster, more fluid, and more aggressive than the first game. The developers have emphasized a push toward pressure and offense, with snappier animations and a more brutal feel overall.

Dismemberment and Executions
A brand new dismemberment system lets players rend enemies limb from limb, and all-new executions deliver gory, arena-drenching finishers. The studio has billed this as the most violent entry in the series.
Steel or Sorcery
Players can fight with steel or sorcery, in melee or at range, switching smoothly between the three. The sequel offers a much larger variety of weapons than before, from agile dagger playstyles to impactful heavy attacks. Defensive play centers on dodging and blocking incoming attacks. The breadth of options supports a wide range of weapons and builds.
Heavy attacks are positioned as tools rather than simply bigger swings, used to break an enemy's posture, control groups, or open a window that decides a fight. Switching between the three approaches is meant to be seamless: multiple spells and ammunition types can be equipped at once and used instantly mid-battle rather than swapped through menus.
Enemies That Fight Back
Encounters promise significantly greater enemy variety than before, and some foes can morph into deadlier forms mid-fight as Umbral takes hold. Boss battles are larger and more spectacular, pitting the player against colossal abominations. See Bosses and Enemies.
Difficulty
Customizable game modifiers return as a confirmed feature and the team has said it wants them available at launch, though the individual options have not been published and no separate difficulty setting has been detailed. The developers suggest leaving them off for a first playthrough, since enabling everything gives a different experience from the intended one. Danger also scales with the player's own activity, through the rising Dread of the undead realm.
