Lords of the Fallen II can be played entirely solo or with a second player in seamless online co-op. The campaign is designed to support both from the start.
Shared Progression Co-op

In co-op, two players journey through Thorngar together as fellow Lampbearers, and crucially both keep their campaign progress. Rather than a temporary summon, the mode offers shared story progression, so a guest advances their own game while helping a friend.
The store listing confirms the game as single-player and multiplayer with online co-op, online player versus player, and cross-platform multiplayer. Shared progression co-op is confirmed for launch rather than added later.
The Free Friend's Pass
The previous game introduced a Free Friend's Pass that let a single purchase bring two players into a session together. The studio has not confirmed whether that pass carries over to the sequel, so it should not be assumed at launch.
Player Versus Player and Cross-Play
An optional player versus player mode is included for those who want it, kept separate so it does not intrude on the cooperative experience. Multiplayer also supports cross-platform play, letting players connect across different systems.
