11Sleep vs. Energy2233Sleep and Energy are two separate needs in inZOI, which trips people up at first. Sleep is a physical need (alongside Hunger, Hygiene, and Bathroom) that requires actually getting into a bed or napping on a sofa. Energy is a mental need (alongside Fun, Social, and Recognition) that relates to general fatigue from daily tasks. It recovers just from sitting in a chair or doing relaxing activities. You don't need to sleep to restore Energy, and sleeping alone won't fix a tanked Energy bar.445566How Sleep Depletion Works7788Sleep is one of the highest-priority needs, right alongside Hunger and Bathroom. The need gauge uses a color system: white when safe, yellow when it's getting concerning, and red when critical.991010If a Zoi's Sleep gauge empties completely, a timer starts. The first 12 hours are uncomfortable but survivable. Things get worse over the next 24 hours. When the Zoi hits the 12-hour warning mark, a "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome" notification appears. If the Zoi doesn't rest within those final 12 hours, they collapse and die. In total, a Zoi can survive without sleep for roughly 2 in-game days before exhaustion kills them.11111212Sleep deprivation death is one of 16 confirmed death types in the game. The "Go Back In Time" option after death lets you reload a previous save to undo it.13131414Night Speedup15151616When a Zoi goes to bed between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM, the game automatically accelerates to 30x speed. This happens because most NPC Zois are also asleep during those hours and there's minimal simulation happening. The speed drops back to 1x at 6 AM.17171818If a Zoi sleeps outside that window (say, a nap at 2 PM) time passes at normal speed and you have to manually use the speed controls. This makes midday naps feel much longer than nighttime sleep.19192020Trait Effects on Sleep21212222The Dreamer trait causes the Sleep need to drain faster, meaning Dreamer Zois need to sleep more often than others. On the flip side, the Adventurer trait gives high Energy with a slower depletion rate, though that affects Energy rather than Sleep specifically.23232424Beds25252626Beds are found in the Bedroom category of Build Mode. Click on a placed bed in Build Mode and select the paintbrush icon to customize each section. You can change colors (via presets or the color wheel), materials, gloss, and textures. The My Texture feature works here too, you can apply AI-generated or imported textures to any part of the bed.37373838Toddler Sleep39394040Toddlers don't use regular beds. When a toddler gets tired enough, a Toddler Rug spawns on the floor and they lie down on it. The "Tuck In" parenting action works the same way. The parent interacts with the toddler and a rug appears for them to sleep on.41414242The toddler furniture available in Build Mode (Toddler Rug at 20 Meow, Toddler Bouncer at 428 Meow, Toddler Cushion at 20 Meow) is decorative only in Early Access. Toddlers and parents can't actually interact with these items. All parenting interactions, including diaper changes and bedtime routines, happen on the floor. KRAFTON has acknowledged this and committed to improving parenting features.43434444Sofa Napping45454646Sofas work as an alternative to beds for shorter naps. A Zoi can nap on a sofa to get partial sleep recovery without needing to go to the bedroom. Full sleep restoration still requires a proper bed, but sofa naps help in a pinch. While one Zoi sleeps (in a bed or on a sofa), other household members remain controllable.47474848Dreams and Nightmares49495050Sleeping Zois can experience dreams and nightmares. During sleep, a visual bubble appears above their head showing what they're dreaming about. The content of dreams is influenced by the Zoi's current mood and recent life events. A Zoi who had a rough day is more likely to have a nightmare, while a Zoi in a good mood might dream about things they enjoy.51515252The more frequently a Zoi dreams, the higher their chance of triggering sleepwalking (see below).53535454Sleepwalking55555656This is one of the wilder systems in inZOI. Sleepwalking Zois perform autonomous actions that the player cannot control. The things they do while sleepwalking are tied to their individual values, traits, and desires, which means the results are unpredictable and sometimes expensive.57575858Players have reported sleepwalking Zois doing things like:59596060FactorDetailsBooking luxury yacht cruisesthe Zoi gets into a taxi and disappears for an entire day, missing workDonating all their money to charitymultiple players have reported this one, sometimes putting the Zoi deep into debtBooking trips to spacethe Zoi vanishes the following dayWandering around the house doing random activities--6161Sleepwalking is an intentional game feature, not a bug. After a sleepwalking episode, the Zoi may receive a "Sleepwalking" mood. The frequency of sleepwalking is connected to how often the Zoi dreams, which in turn is affected by their mood and trait combination.62626363Sleep Adjustments64646565KRAFTON tweaked sleep duration after launch because the original "realistic" sleep patterns (Zois oversleeping when tired, sleeping in regularly) created too much friction with gameplay flow. Sleep was shortened so players spend less time watching their Zois lie in bed. The 30x night speedup also helps keep things moving.
