11The Collecting skill in inZOI is a gathering skill focused on mining and resource collection. It was introduced in the v0.3.0 update alongside the free Island Getaway DLC (August 2025), together with Handiwork, Fishing, and Swimming. Collecting is available from the Teenager life stage through Senior.2233Higher Collecting levels improve tool efficiency and yield better results when mining. Mined items are automatically added to the Family Collection Log, and completing the log earns additional rewards. The skill works closely with Handiwork, which covers what you do with gathered materials at the Crafting Table.4455How to Level Collecting6677Collecting experience is gained primarily through mining at Mining Spots scattered throughout the game world. Each successful mining attempt raises the Collecting skill and deposits raw materials into the Zoi's inventory.88991010Mining11111212Mining is the core activity of the Collecting skill. Mining Spots appear as rocky patches or shiny spots on the ground in non-residential areas. To mine, walk your Zoi to a Mining Spot and interact with it, then choose the "Mine with Tools" option. A pickaxe is required to mine effectively; mining with bare hands is far less efficient.13131414Mining spots respawn quickly, giving you plenty of chances to gather resources in a single play session. Each mining attempt takes a short time and deposits rocks, gemstones, or raw minerals directly into the Zoi's inventory.15151616Pickaxes17171818Before mining, your Zoi needs a pickaxe. Three starter pickaxes can be purchased from the Farm Store in Cahaya (located in the bottom right section of the map) for 200 Meow each:191920202121PickaxeEffectivenessStone PickaxeBasic effectiveness; mines regular spots, yields rocks and copper oreCopper PickaxeImproved speed; required for silver mining spotsSteel PickaxeBetter yield at silver and regular spots2222Higher-tier pickaxes can be crafted at a Crafting Table as the Handiwork skill progresses. Crafted pickaxes include Silver, Gold, Diamond, and Gem tiers, each dramatically increasing the chance of discovering rare gemstones. Upgrading pickaxes is essential because a Stone Pickaxe will almost never find gemstones, while a Gem Pickaxe at gold or mixed spots produces them regularly.23232424Crafted PickaxeHandiwork Level RequiredKey BenefitPremium PickaxeLevel 2Strong profit when sold; significant mining improvementSilver PickaxeCrafted from silverOpens gold mining spotsGold PickaxeCrafted from gold oreHigher gem drop rates; can find raw diamondsDiamond PickaxeCrafted from diamondsPrerequisite to craft the Gem Pickaxe; fast miningGem PickaxeCrafted from refined gemsBest tool; highest gem yield at all spot types2525Mining Spot Types26262727Four types of Mining Spots appear throughout the game world. Gemstones can be cut into polished jewels, and metals can be used to craft premium tools.44444545What Collecting Levels Improve46464747As the Collecting skill levels up, the Zoi becomes more efficient at mining:484849495050BenefitDescriptionTool efficiencyHigher Collecting levels make each pickaxe swing more effective, reducing the time needed per mining spot.Better yieldsHigher skill increases the chance of finding uncommon and rare materials from any mining spot.Success rateAt higher levels, the Zoi is more likely to find valuable items and less likely to get only common rocks.5151The exact level thresholds for these improvements are not sharply defined; improvement is gradual as the skill increases from Level 1 to 10.52525353Family Collection Log54545555Everything your household collects, from fish and crops to gemstones, jewels, and tools, is automatically recorded in the Family Collection Log. The log is accessed by clicking the book-shaped icon located below the Property notification board on the right side of the screen.56565757The log is a Family Collection Log, meaning it tracks items collected by any member of the household, not just the currently controlled Zoi. Completing sections of the log unlocks exclusive furniture rewards. The log shows silhouettes for undiscovered items and full-color icons for collected ones, with hints about where or how to find missing items.58585959Connection to Other Skills60606161Collecting sits at the center of a resource-gathering ecosystem that connects to several other skills:626263636464Related SkillHow It ConnectsHandiworkUses raw materials from Collecting to craft tools, jewelry, and polished jewels at the Crafting TableFishingAnother gathering skill; fishing spots are often near mining spots, making it natural to level bothGardeningFarming activities share locations with mining in Cahaya; some tools crafted via Handiwork (watering cans, rakes) are used for gardeningHouseworkSeparate from Collecting; uses the Furniture Workbench rather than the Crafting Table6565Developing Collecting and Handiwork together creates a complete resource pipeline: mine raw materials with Collecting, then refine and craft them into valuable items with Handiwork.66666767Child Skill Connection68686969Children have a related skill called Curious Mind, which grows through fishing and mining activities. Curious Mind is the child equivalent of Collecting and Fishing. A child who levels Curious Mind gets a head start in resource-gathering skills when they age up to a Teenager.70707171Tips72727373Buy a Stone Pickaxe from the Farm Store in Cahaya as soon as you can afford one. It costs 200 Meow and is required to start mining.Xiang Park in Cahaya is the best mining location. Mining spots there are densely clustered and respawn quickly.Mining spots respawn fast, so you can circle back through an area and mine the same spots again shortly after.Upgrade your pickaxe as soon as possible through Handiwork crafting. Higher-tier pickaxes dramatically increase rare gem drop rates.Pair Collecting with Handiwork for the best results. Raw materials are worth much more when processed into tools or polished jewels.Check the Family Collection Log regularly. Completing gemstone and mineral sets unlocks exclusive furniture rewards.Mining spots near fishing spots (like Harang River Park) let you level both Collecting and Fishing in one outing. If you have children in your household, let them fish and mine to build their Curious Mind skill before they age up.Do not confuse Collecting with Handiwork. Collecting is about gathering raw materials; Handiwork is about processing them at the Crafting Table.
