New article covering the central hub city with lore and gameplay details
Chang'an is the central hub city in Honor of Kings: World, located at the heart of Primaera's Kingdom of Chang'an. It is the largest settlement in the game world and the primary city players return to between adventures.
Chang'an is ruled by the Wu Clan and has been rebuilt into a prosperous, thriving city. Its architecture blends traditional Chinese imperial aesthetics with the game's fictional technology powered by the Flow. The city's prosperity contrasts with the wilderness and ruins found across much of Primaera, where ancient wars and environmental decay have left lasting damage.
The name references Chang'an (modern-day Xi'an), the ancient capital of multiple Chinese dynasties including the Han and Tang. The historical Chang'an was one of the world's largest and most cosmopolitan cities for centuries, and the game's version draws on that legacy.
As the primary hub, Chang'an provides access to merchants, crafting stations, training facilities, quest boards, and social spaces. Players can manage their inventory, upgrade equipment, and interact with NPC vendors here. The city also functions as a social space where players can meet other online players.
Chang'an sits at the center of the reported 64 sq km explorable area. Its position makes it a natural waypoint between the game's various regions, including the surrounding Springbrook Plains, Dragon Valley, the Aerfall Highlands, and other zones. Fast travel points connect the city to distant locations.
The main story campaign passes through Chang'an at multiple points. The Flowborn begins their journey at nearby Jixia Academy and encounters Chang'an early in the story. NPCs within the city provide side quests and lore about the kingdom's political situation, the Wu Clan's governance, and the lingering effects of the ancient War of Gods.
