Ashenridge is the town where Grave Seasons takes place. It is presented as an idyllic, isolated mountain town with some seriously unsettling vibes. The player arrives there after a treacherous escape from jail, intending to start a quiet new farming life, only to find that murders soon begin to occur.

A Living Town
Ashenridge is populated by over 40 fully scheduled characters, each going about their daily routines, with 20 named primary residents making up the core cast that the player can build relationships with. Every named resident has a home, a schedule, and secrets, which the player can investigate over the course of the year. The town's social fabric, including grudges and connections between residents, is part of the backdrop against which the murders unfold. See Characters for the full named roster.
Two Districts
Beyond the player's farm, mountainside, forest, and the coast with its quiet dock and sunny beach, the town of Ashenridge itself is split into two districts.
Local District: a compact, maze-like quarter holding the homes and shops of most residents, where many people live above the businesses they run. It is home to the Fortune Teller (who can hint at the weather), the Bar, and the shared Community Gardens.
Commercial District: Mayor Fitch's tourism project, built to draw visitors to the isolated town. It holds commercial businesses such as S-Mart, the corporate general store, along with a curated town square and an artistic fountain that anchors events through the year.
Locations
The town contains more than 70 locations, and these locations update dynamically based on the state of the player's playthrough. When a resident dies during a run, their home reflects that change rather than staying static.
Notable spots include:
Location | Notes |
|---|---|
The player's run-down farm, located north of town. Previously owned by the player character's cellmate. | |
The Docks | Where Noa runs The Big Fish, his fishing and tackle store. |
The Diner | Run by Gregory. A regular hangout for several townsfolk. |
The Bar | Run by Lukas. Where Tomás, the local priest, is often found in the evenings. |
The Library | Tended by Rose, a quiet librarian with a ghostly presence. |
The School | Where Ishan teaches Ashenridge's youth. |
Sunbeam Florals | Leilani's flower shop in the heart of town. |
S-Mart | The general store managed by Yuto. |
The Smithy | Jade's forge, where farm tools and the player's crowbar can be upgraded. |
The Mine | Reached past a wooden bridge over a waterfall on the way out of town. |
The Woods | Surround the town. Investigation often leads here, sometimes to grim discoveries. |
A Cozy Town With A Dark Secret
The contrast between cozy small-town life and lurking horror defines Ashenridge. While the player farms, fishes, mines, and builds relationships, a supernatural serial killer is hiding among the residents. The town also harbors quieter strangeness: the librarian is rumored to be a centuries-old ghost, and the player's own farm is said to be home to a dangerous and malevolent tree. See The Murder Mystery for the threat at the town's heart and Monsters for what stalks Ashenridge at night.
