Added the quest route, requirements, and rewards.
The Stranger is the six-book Chromanin quest. Read each volume after collecting it: the next book does not appear until the previous one has been read. The opening book can be obtained in Chapter 1, but later locations contain dangerous enemies.
Book | Location and route |
|---|---|
Chromanin 1 | Defeat the Skeletal Mage below the Fogtower. Descend the tower stairs, pass the cells, and keep taking ladders down until the cave route reaches a green torch and the Mage's chamber. Read the book he drops. |
Chromanin 2 | Go south of the New Camp past Jan's hut to the small fishing settlement. Swim across the lake to the house at the southwestern end near the cave. The book lies on its table. Watch for the nearby Lurker. |
Chromanin 3 | At the Mountain Fortress, solve the study books in the order Swampshark, Wolf, Molerat. Climb the new passage to the attic and drop through the broken wall. Enter the bedroom behind the landing, then the left doorway. The book is on a lectern. |
Chromanin 4 | Enter the building beside the Old Camp castle gallows. Take the stairs at the back down, pass the door, turn right through the doorways, and continue down to the torture chamber. Search the desk on the left. |
Chromanin 5 | At the Old Citadel, reach the metal grate at the back. Climb the wall behind it and push the bell down to break the grate. Descend and defeat the Stone Golem with Blunt damage. The book lies on the small table to the left. |
Chromanin 6 | Return to the Fogtower Skeletal Mage chamber after reading the first five books. The barriers are gone. Take the final book from the lectern in the nearby room and read it. |
Reading the final volume summons hostile Skeletons. Defeat them, then search the newly accessible rooms. Completing the sequence unlocks True Stranger.
The unlocked reward chest contains Storm of Fire, a Ring of Greater Invincibility, an inscription for transforming into a Shadowbeast, a Summon Skeletons scroll, an Elixir of Magic Energy, and five Parchments. No lockpicking is needed for this chest.
Keep a save before chapter transitions described in Missables and Points of No Return so castle access does not interrupt the book hunt.
