Orcs are the primary humanoid enemies in the late game of Gothic 1 Remake. The Kingdom of Myrtana is actively at war with them, and the entire reason the Colony exists is to supply King Rhobar II's armies with magical ore to forge weapons for that war.
Within the Valley of Mines, Orc presence is mostly concentrated in the north, around the Orc temples and the Sleeper's territory. The Hero does not have to deal with large Orc forces until mid-to-late game, but once the focus-stone arcs begin, encounters ramp up quickly.
Different kinds of Orcs are confirmed for the remake, including Elite Orcs, Crossbowmen, Archers, and larger Giant variants. Each has different stance, armour, and ranged behaviour, which forces the player to adjust tactics rather than relying on one combat solution for every encounter.
Alkimia Interactive has publicly stated the remake is adding expanded Orc interactions compared to the original. Rather than being purely hostile, some Orcs have speaking roles. The shaman Ur-Shak is confirmed as one of these named characters.
