1-Focus Stones are ancient magical artifacts scattered across the Valley of Mines. Collecting them is the main-quest arc that pulls the middle chapters of Gothic 1 Remake together, and they are the physical key to opening the temple of The Sleeper at the end of the campaign.

13-The Focus Stones are not a direct Barrier release mechanism. The New Camp's Water Mages have their own research and artifact theories about breaking the Barrier that intersect with the Focus Stone hunt without being identical to it.
13+The Water Mages collect the stones as part of their plan to destroy the Barrier. After the four expeditions, Saturas seeks the Fire Mages' help in Flames to the Flood.

1717 The Water Mages send the Hero to recover the Focus Stones from four sites across the valley, starting from the Fogtower lighthouse where the Four Friends are waiting. The most efficient route is the Fogtower to the Monastery Ruins, then the Troll Canyon, then the Stone Circle, and finally the Mountain Fortress.
