Captain Akila Grey is the COG officer overseeing Bravo Squad's deployment in Gears of War: E-Day. She appears when the four report for duty, and the scene she presides over is one of the quietest and most pointed in anything published so far. Little else about her is confirmed, and this page is short because the subject is.

City Hall and the Deployment

Bravo Squad officially assembles at Kalona's City Hall, hastily converted into a COG base that is part medical triage and part command centre, early in the campaign's second act as laid out on Campaign Acts and Chapters. Up to that point the four have been improvising in plain clothes. Reporting to Grey is where they become a unit with orders rather than four people who ran the wrong way down the same street.

She takes their details and their next of kin. It is standard intake handled as paperwork, and the game uses it to introduce all four without exposition.

The Next of Kin Scene

The two blanks are doing the work. Neither Carter nor Reyes has anyone to put on the form, and finding that out about each other is what starts to bond them. Dom runs the other way: he has people, they are elsewhere, and he cannot stop asking about them.

The published material names her as a Captain. The fuller service detail that circulates, a posting to the 26th Royal Tyran Infantry, is not officially confirmed and is recorded here only as such. Nothing has been published about her career before Emergence Day.
