Lucas Reyes is one of two new playable characters introduced in Gears of War: E-Day, alongside Mags Carter. He is voiced by Jake Ryan Lozano.

Who He Is
Lucas is the rookie of the group. He trained as a communications officer and never saw the war he had been preparing for, and the studio describes him as confident with dreams of glory that reality never gave him a chance to test. Where Mags has seen the most fighting of the four, Lucas has seen the least.
That inexperience is the point. When Emergence Day begins he is in plain clothes like the rest of the squad, with no unit and no orders, and he turns toward the danger with the other three before any of them have met properly.
The Corpser Sighting
One campaign beat has been described in detail. When a sky train collapses, Lucas is the one who spots the legs of something enormous underneath it. He tries to call it out and nobody else saw it, so nobody believes him. The moment pays off later in the same mission, once the creature is in full view and there is no longer anything to argue about. The unit itself is listed on Enemies.
It is a small scene, but it does a lot of work for the campaign structure: because the story never leaves the squad, the player only ever knows what these four know, and a warning nobody acts on is one of the few tools available for building dread inside that constraint.
Front Seat and Back Seat
The team frames the squad as two characters in the front seat and two in the back. Lucas and Mags are the back seat, which describes their position in the plot rather than their importance: the brief for both new characters was that they had to stand on their own rather than duplicate the returning leads.
Playing as Lucas
The campaign can be played start to finish as any of the four from the start. Player counts and split-screen limits are on Co-Op and Split-Screen, and the squad roster is on Bravo Squad.
