The content of Ember and Blade is organized into chapters called Acts. Each Act bundles together a portion of the narrative and the gameplay that goes with it, structuring both the story and the player's progression through the world.
Content Organized Into Acts
Acts are the game's way of dividing its dark, intricate storyline into stages. As the player advances, they move through these chapters, encountering new stretches of the realm, new enemies, and new story beats. This act-based structure ties the run-based combat to a larger forward arc, giving the endless cycle of falling and returning a sense of overall progress. The wider narrative those Acts deliver is covered in Story and Setting.
Act 2 in the Public Demo
The public demo highlighted the narrative-packed Act 2. The expanded build shown during the fall 2025 demo showcases centered on this chapter, and it introduced new content alongside it, including two new angels granting fresh Blessings and a new boss to face. The full timeline of what the demo offered is laid out in Demo History.
The Act 3 Reveal
An Act 3 reveal trailer arrived in December 2025. Beyond advancing the story, the Act 3 reveal introduced a new weapon, the Gauntlet, expanding the player's combat options. This was shown as part of the Act 3 reveal rather than confirmed as a finalized full-release feature, so it is best understood as a preview of where the game is heading. The Gauntlet and the rest of the arsenal are covered in Weapons.
How Acts Shape Progression
Because each Act can bring new stages, enemies, angels, and weapons, the Acts function as milestones in the player's growth as much as in the story. New tools introduced in a given Act feed directly into the build-crafting systems, where the player combines blessings and other upgrades. The bosses that cap these encounters are covered in Bosses.
