Ember and Blade follows a staged launch plan: an Early Access period in the second half of 2026, followed by a full global release in the first half of 2027. It is coming to PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, and to PlayStation 5, with additional consoles planned for later announcement. No pricing or edition details have been revealed yet. For how to play across these platforms, see Controls and Platforms.
Early Access in Late 2026
The studio frames Ember and Blade as a global Early Access title arriving in the second half of 2026, and its Steam listing carries a Q4 2026 window. Early Access means the game will be playable before its full launch, with development continuing based on player feedback during that period. The date should be read as a window rather than a fixed day, and it remains subject to change.
It is worth noting that earlier announcements pointed to a slightly earlier schedule, but the timeline has since shifted to the current late-2026 Early Access framing. The most current guidance is the Q4 2026 Early Access window described here.
Full Release in 2027
After Early Access, a full global release is targeted for the first half of 2027. This is when the game is expected to leave its Early Access state and ship as a complete experience. As with the Early Access window, this is a target rather than a confirmed calendar date.
The Development Roadmap
The studio publishes a dated roadmap running from the first demo to full release. It is the clearest single statement of what each stage is meant to contain, and it is worth reading alongside Demo History, which covers the demo builds in detail.
Stage | Window | What It Covers |
|---|---|---|
First demo | July 2025 | Built on Act 1, released on Steam with Steam Deck support from the start |
Festival build | October 2025 | Added Act 2, the boss Arcanus the Faceless, meta progression and Shay's Hideout, featured on the Epic Games Store at the same time |
Demo rebuilding | February to April 2026 | Four rounds of updates refining combat tempo, controls and onboarding in response to player feedback |
Console confirmation | June 2026 | PlayStation 5 release confirmed, with the store page and a new trailer |
Final demo | 3 September 2026 | The last demo build, carrying the rebuilt combo system and active Blessings, deepening the action and addressing quality-of-life feedback |
Early Access | Q4 2026 | Opens with the first playthrough's story running through Act 4, with balance and content refined alongside the community |
Full release | H1 2027 | All Acts unlocked and the story concluded across three playthroughs |
Two details in that plan change how the game should be read. Early Access is not a slice of the opening hours: it is meant to carry the first playthrough's story as far as Act 4, which is four of the five floors described on Acts. And the full release is framed around three playthroughs rather than one, so the New Game Plus structure is where the story is actually meant to finish.
PC: Steam and Epic Games Store
On PC, Ember and Blade will be available through both Steam and the Epic Games Store, and it is Steam Deck supported. A free demo has already been available during development, and a rebuilt one is dated for 3 September 2026; its history is covered on Demo History.

PlayStation 5 and Future Consoles
A PlayStation 5 version has been confirmed to arrive alongside the game's broader release. The studio has stated that additional consoles will be confirmed at a later date, but no other console has been named so far. The exact PlayStation 5 release date has likewise not been finalized.
In confirming the console plans, a representative said the team is thrilled to bring Ember and Blade to PlayStation 5 following its PC release, and will continue to focus on development to maximize the action and overall gameplay experience.
The PlayStation Store listing is live, carries an announced status, and as of late August 2026 states that its release date is still to be determined, so the PlayStation 5 version has no date of its own even as an approximate window. It describes a single-player game with offline play enabled, Remote Play support and DualSense vibration, and it advertises fifteen accessibility features. Those are covered on Controls and Platforms.
Pricing and Editions
No price, edition tiers, or pre-order details have been announced for Ember and Blade. A free demo is available during development, but the full game's pricing and any special editions remain to be revealed. The main hub page for the game is Ember and Blade.
