New article: stamina mechanics, Hot Springs recovery, and food-based recovery
Almost everything in Starsand Island costs stamina: farming, mining, fishing, fighting. When it runs out, you stop being able to work. Sleeping restores it fully, but the day ends with it, so managing your stamina well is the difference between a productive day and a wasted one.
If you are not in bed by 2 AM, you pass out wherever you are. This is less punishing than it sounds since days are reasonably long, but watch the clock during Moonlit Forest runs.
The game does not spell this out, but the Hot Springs are one of the best early-game stamina recovery methods. They are in Maple Reed, near Waverin's Home. There are multiple spots, and any of them work.
To use the Hot Springs:
Buy a Hot Spring Ticket from the General Store or any vending machine. They cost 100 Coins each, though random discounts appear sometimes.
Keep the ticket in your bag.
Walk up to any hot spring spot in Maple Reed and interact with it. The ticket is consumed automatically.
You recover roughly 2 to 3 stamina per in-game minute. Filling an empty bar takes a while, so it is hard to use the hot springs twice in one day. But early on, when food is scarce and Coins are tight, a 100-Coin ticket to recharge is a solid deal.
Eating food is the other recovery method, and eventually it becomes the faster option. You will pick up berries everywhere, and they give a small stamina boost. Cooked food restores more.
Later in the game, when gold is not a problem and you have ingredients stockpiled, food becomes the go-to method. Cooking something and eating it is faster than walking to Maple Reed and sitting in a pool. See Cooking for recipes.
You do not need to water every crop plot every day. Skipping some watering is a valid way to conserve stamina before you unlock sprinklers.
Rainy days water your crops for free. Use the saved stamina for mining, fishing, or exploring.
Striking crops with an axe to harvest is faster than pressing the interact key, costs no stamina, and removes weeds at the same time.
Rush towards unlocking sprinklers. They are the single biggest quality-of-life upgrade for stamina conservation on the farm.
