Red Fox Mercenary Corps

The Red Fox Mercenary Corps is a named faction in DragonSword: Awakening and the first such organisation to be individually publicly detailed by Hound13. It is the mercenary outfit that Kalien belongs to, and it gives her Spiritist work a home base and a reason to move across the Continent of Orbis.

Role in the Story

For players, the Red Fox Mercenary Corps functions as the first window onto the wider web of factions Hound13 has said are "entangled in complex interests" on the continent. Kalien's membership carries her across Orbis on paid work, but the thread running through her arc is personal rather than contractual: she and Dana are searching for Dana's mother, who is also Kalien's dear friend. That keeps her faction affiliation in play during the search.

Connection to Other Heroes

At launch the Red Fox Mercenary Corps is a separate grouping from the unnamed mercenary band that Lute falls in with alongside Johnny and Castella. How the two groups intersect as the main story builds toward the Dragon threat has not yet been publicly detailed. Additional faction membership will be clarified as the remaining fourteen Heroes are introduced.

The Red Fox Mercenary Corps was named in Hound13's April 2026 Kalien Hero Trailer, published to the Steam store page on the same content slate as the game's announcement of the self-published Steam release and the July 2026 launch window.
