Overview

Coen’s home village, Laslea, is a secluded settlement in the hills of Vale Sangora. Coen was born and raised there, and his family still lives in the surrounding hills. Rebel Wolves named the village for the first time in a June 30, 2026 lore bulletin titled "Coen’s Roots."

A Secluded Community

Laslea is small enough that everyone knows one another. That closeness shapes Coen: he grew up surrounded by friends and loved ones, and those bonds are part of what the vampire occupation puts at risk. As the eldest of four children, Coen took on responsibility early, working alongside his father Pieter in the nearby silver mines.

Rule and the Black Plague

The village sits under the rule of the human lord Skender Dragosti. Like the rest of Vale Sangora, Laslea could not escape the Black Plague, which swept through the valley and brought heavy losses to its inhabitants. It was against this backdrop of sickness and fear that the vrakhiri, led by Brencis, tightened their grip on the region by promising health and safety in exchange for submission.

Coen’s Family

Coen’s parents and three siblings live in the hills of Laslea: his father Pieter, a former mercenary; his mother Esme, whose health has declined sharply under vampire rule; and his siblings Yanna, Mirto, and the youngest, Lunka. When the vrakhiri capture his family, Coen must use his newfound Dawnwalker powers to try to save them.

The Church

The village church is Laslea's gathering point, the place people go for comfort, for news and to hold on to their faith while the valley changes around them. Father Florin keeps a diary there in which he records the people around him: their habits, their fears, and the small shifts in behaviour he notices as the valley turns. The developers have framed that diary as something the player is meant to read and follow up on, with the accumulated details pointing at something in the village no longer being what it should be.

Work and Escape

Laslea's economy runs on the same silver mines that built the rest of the valley. Coen worked in them alongside his father as a child, an experience the studio describes as leaving lasting marks on both his body and his outlook. As the eldest of four he took on responsibility early, keeping watch over his younger siblings while his parents worked.

Pieter taught him the basics of swordsmanship, but Coen kept a second ambition to himself. He studies Latin in secret, hoping that literacy might one day let him leave the village behind for a different kind of life. Anca is the one who taught him to read, and to look for what a text does not say outright.
