Add max stats comparison with Necklace of Lightning and clarify acquisition via skinning
The White Lion Necklace is a legendary accessory (necklace) in Crimson Desert that provides a significant boost to critical rate across all weapon types. It is obtained by defeating the Legendary White Lion, a boss located in the far northern reaches of the map. The necklace is widely regarded as one of the best accessories in the game for players building around critical hits.
The White Lion Necklace gains crit rate as it is refined. Like all accessories in Crimson Desert, its stat bonuses are effectively doubled due to the accessory multiplier, making each crit rate level worth more than it appears.
Refinement Level | Attack | Crit Rate Level | Effective Crit Rate |
|---|---|---|---|
+0 (Base) | 0 | Lv. 0 | 0 |
+2 | 1 | Lv. 1 | 2 (with accessory multiplier) |
+5 | 3 | Lv. 2 | 4 (with accessory multiplier) |
+8 | 4 | Lv. 3 | 6 (with accessory multiplier) |
+10 (Max) | 5 | Lv. 4 | 8 (with accessory multiplier) |
At maximum refinement (+10), the necklace provides Crit Rate Lv. 4, Attack 5, and Spirit +0.3 per second. The effective crit rate of 8 points applies to every weapon in the player's arsenal, including bows, one-handed weapons, and two-handed weapons.
At max refinement, the White Lion Necklace provides 5 attack, Crit Rate Lv. 4 (effective 8 with the accessory multiplier), and spirit regeneration of +0.3 per second. The raw stat line of 5 attack and 4 crit rate levels (before the accessory multiplier) is identical to the Necklace of Lightning, making the two necklaces interchangeable from a stats perspective. The necklace is obtained by finding and slaying the Legendary White Lion, then skinning its corpse.
The White Lion Necklace drops from defeating the Legendary White Lion, one of the legendary animal bosses scattered across the world.
The Legendary White Lion is found very far to the north of Hernand, in the Turquoise Rock Pools area north of Trader's Expanse, near Varnia. To reach it:
Travel north from Hernand, passing through the Demeniss region.
Continue north beyond Demeniss, heading toward the Crimson Desert region at the very top of the map.
Look for a small peak of land at the northernmost point, near the Turquoise Rock Pools. The White Lion and its pride patrol the cliffs above.
The primary challenge of this encounter is the distance. The Legendary White Lion's territory is one of the most remote locations on the map. Plan your trip accordingly and consider bringing recovery items for the journey.
Despite its legendary status, the White Lion fight is considered relatively easy compared to other legendary animal encounters. The lion gets staggered frequently and tends to remain on the defensive once the player establishes pressure.
The lion staggers easily, so aggressive melee combos are effective. Once staggered, it has difficulty recovering momentum.
Ranged attacks with a bow work well for maintaining damage uptime while staying at a safe distance.
The fight does not require extensive preparation or top-tier equipment. Mid-game gear is generally sufficient.
Tip: Use Force Palm to knock the lion off the cliff edge for instant fall-damage kills. The lionesses scatter when the White Lion dies.
After defeating the lion, skin it to collect the White Lion Necklace along with other crafting materials.
The White Lion Necklace is a cornerstone accessory for crit-focused builds. Since its crit rate bonus applies to every weapon type, it benefits all playstyles.
Crit stacking: Pair with the Kuku Flame-Resistant Armor (which provides Crit Rate Lv. 3 at max refinement) for massive crit rate on all weapons. Together, they can provide 14+ effective crit rate across your entire arsenal.
Bow builds: The universal crit rate is especially valuable for bow builds, where crit rate is harder to stack through weapon-specific abyss gears.
Dual wield bonus: On dual wield builds, the accessory multiplier can effectively provide 16 crit rate points, since it applies to both weapons simultaneously.
With just the White Lion Necklace at +8 (Crit Rate Lv. 3, effective 6 points) and the Kuku Flame-Resistant Armor (Crit Rate Lv. 3), a player reported reaching 14 crit rate on swords with zero crit rate mods on the weapons themselves. Their bow reached 15 (with one additional Crit Rate I mod), and their two-handed sword reached 15 (due to intrinsic crit rate on the weapon). This demonstrates how these two items alone can bring weapon crit rates close to or at the cap without consuming any abyss gear slots for crit mods.
