Tranan is the resident blacksmith of the Greymanes, operating the Base Camp Equipment Shop at Greymane Camp in the Howling Hill area. He is one of two permanent vendors stationed at the camp, alongside Ronnie, who handles provisions. Tranan stocks weapons, ammunition, and basic combat supplies that are available as soon as the camp is established during the main story.
Known for his exceptional metalwork, Tranan is described as boisterous and big-hearted but notoriously exacting about craftsmanship. He has a well-documented love of drinks and will not hesitate to criticize anyone who mistreats a weapon he has forged. His presence at the camp gives players reliable access to equipment and ammunition without needing to travel back to Hernand Town.
Tranan can be found in two locations during the course of the game:
Glenbright Farm during the quest Embers of Return. This is where you first meet him as part of the Greymane reunion.
Greymane Camp, Howling Hill at the Base Camp Equipment Shop. This becomes his permanent post once the camp is set up.
At Greymane Camp, his shop is near the center of the base. Look for the anvil and weapon racks next to his stall. He is accessible at all times of day.
Tranan sells a mix of ammunition, ranged weapons, and melee equipment. His stock refreshes periodically, so check back if a particular item is sold out. Prices are listed in copper and silver.

Beyond selling goods, Tranan functions as the camp's blacksmith. Players can bring weapons and armor to him for refinement, the upgrade system that improves gear stats through materials rather than currency. Each piece of equipment can be refined up to 10 levels. The materials required depend on the gear type:
Plate armor and weapons: Ores such as Iron Ore and Copper Ore, gathered by mining rock deposits.
Leather armor and jewelry: Hides and bones from hunting animals across Pywel.
Wooden shields: Timber obtained by felling trees with an axe.
Soft clothing: Cloth Pieces and Fleece, available from enemy loot or provisioner shops.
Refinement at Tranan's shop costs no currency; only the materials are consumed. Higher refinement levels require rarer materials and Abyss Artifacts. You can check what materials a piece of equipment needs by selecting Inspect in your inventory and choosing Refinement Information.
Tranan's ammunition stock is one of the most affordable sources of Arrows and Bullets in the early game. At 2 copper per Arrow and 3 copper per Bullet, stocking up here before heading out on hunts or boss encounters saves trips to Hernand.
The Pailunese Riteblade at 91 copper is a budget one-handed weapon worth picking up early if you have not found anything better through loot or quests.
Prioritize refining your plate armor before weapons if you are struggling with boss fights. Plate armor offers the best defense in the game and has no weight penalty compared to leather alternatives.
Visit Tranan regularly after progressing the main story. Camp vendors can restock and occasionally carry new items as the Greymane Camp expands through story progression.
If you sell an item to Tranan and want it back later, the buyback price will be higher than what you originally received. This applies to all vendors in the game.
Embers of Return: Tranan appears during this early quest at Glenbright Farm as part of the Greymane reunion.
