Initial version (2026-10-31)
Ships are a new mount type added to Crimson Desert by the Charting the Unknown expansion, released on October 29, 2026 with patch 2.04.00. They take the Greymanes across the ocean to uncharted islands, support maritime trading, and carry cannons and a crew. Ship access runs through the ocean quest A Wider World, which begins after you complete the main-story quest "Howling Hill" and expand the Greymane Camp above a certain level (the required level was not published as of October 31, 2026).
There are two ways to get a ship:
Build one through a shipbuilding dispatch mission at a port. Building costs fewer camp funds than buying but needs more materials.
Buy one from a fleetmaster. Fleetmasters are located throughout Pywel.
In the quest chain, the first part of A Wider World, "A Call from Beyond the Horizon", is the shipbuilding dispatch, and the follow-up "Where the Wind Blows" teaches ship handling.
Purchase prices are paid in camp funds:
Vessel | Price (Camp Funds) |
|---|---|
Rowboat | 2,000 |
Small ship | 40,000 |
Medium ship | 1,200,000 |
Large ship | 6,000,000 |
Ship parts are sold by fleetmasters in Demeniss and Delesyia. Customizable parts include the figurehead at the bow, the stern and the sails. Ships are also armed with cannons.
Ships have crews; patch 2.04.02 fixed an issue where crew members did not appear on certain ships. A ship can be used for maritime trading, and the expansion added new trade goods for these routes (see Trading and Trade Goods).
Several uncharted islands can be pioneered through new missions. Auronui is the first island most players reach. At launch its pioneering dispatch commonly stalled at 100%. Patch 2.04.02 added a notification in the menu on the right that lets you start a pioneering mission directly when you enter an area available for pioneering, but the notes did not say the stall itself was fixed (as of October 31, 2026). The expansion also added multiple treasure maps that lead to hidden treasures across the world (see Treasure Maps and Puzzles), and a Relic Collector NPC who exchanges relics found through exploration for items; the Relic Collector's location and trade list were not published as of October 31, 2026.
