Shadow Casted Over the River is the 19th main mission in Crimson Desert, part of Chapter 2: Golden Greed under the Hernand in Chaos sub-chapter. Bandits have seized control of both the floodgate and the bridge near Springtide Mill, cutting off the water supply that Hernand depends on. The entire town is suffering as a result, and Kliff must step in to drive the Bleed Bandits out and restore order.
Defeat the enemies around Springtide Mill
Head to the quest marker at Springtide Mill, located along the river near Hernand Square. A group of Bleed Bandits occupies both the bridge and the surrounding encampment. As you begin fighting, a progress indicator appears on screen tracking the percentage of bandits eliminated.
Start by engaging the bandits on the bridge itself. Use a combination of melee attacks and dodges to handle groups of two or three enemies at a time. The bridge is relatively narrow, which works in your favor since enemies cannot easily surround you.
Caution: One of the bandits patrols the area on horseback. When dealing with this enemy, use ranged attacks to target the rider without hitting the horse. Striking the horse will result in a bounty placed on Kliff, which brings additional complications. Aim carefully with your bow or wait until the rider dismounts before engaging in melee.
After clearing the bridge, check the nearby encampment for any remaining bandits. Some enemies hide in tents or behind barricades. The quest will not complete until the progress tracker reaches 100%, so make sure to thoroughly search the entire area around the mill.
Once all enemies have been defeated, a short cutscene plays confirming that the waterway has been restored and the townspeople can resume their normal lives.
Pay close attention to the progress tracker on screen. If it seems stuck, look for enemies hiding in the encampment area behind the mill.
Avoid hitting the horse during the mounted bandit encounter. The bounty system in Crimson Desert penalizes you for harming animals, and clearing a bounty costs time and resources.
The Standard Inventory Expansion Tool is a valuable reward. It permanently increases your carrying capacity, so this quest is well worth completing promptly.
Stock up on healing items before heading to the mill. Groups of three or four bandits can deal significant damage if they surround you.
