The Elephant is a massive exotic temporary mount in Crimson Desert. Classified as a Ground type mount, the Elephant is one of the largest rideable creatures in the game, towering over horses, bears, and most other mounts. Its sheer size and high Defense make it an imposing presence on the battlefield and in the open world.

As a Fleeting Companion, the Elephant cannot be registered at a stable or summoned at will. It must be found and mounted in the world each time. Despite its impressive stature, the Elephant trades raw speed for durability and defensive strength, making it a situational mount best used when survivability matters more than mobility.
The Elephant's stats reflect its role as a slow, heavily-armored mount with exceptional defensive capabilities:
Icon | Stat | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Health | 400 |
| Stamina | 300 |
| Attack | 25 |
| Defense | 50 |
| Speed | 1 |
| Acceleration | 1 |
| Handling | 1 |
| Jump Power | 1 |
With 400 Health, 300 Stamina, and 50 Defense, the Elephant is one of the sturdiest temporary mounts available. Its Attack of 25 is relatively low, suggesting that its charging and trampling power comes from collision-based environmental interactions rather than a dedicated attack stat. The Elephant's Speed and Acceleration of 1 confirm that this is not a mount built for racing across the countryside.
Elephants are found in the warmer, southern regions of Pywel, particularly in areas influenced by the Crimson Desert region's arid climate. They may appear in towns, along trade routes, or in open plains where they serve as beasts of burden for NPC caravans and settlements.
Elephants are generally docile and can be approached without triggering combat. Walk up to an elephant calmly and press the mount prompt when it appears. Some elephants may be attended by NPC handlers, in which case you may need to wait for the handler to move away or deal with them first. Elephants do not spook as easily as deer, but sudden attacks or loud combat nearby may cause them to move away.
Riding an Elephant is a dramatically different experience from smaller mounts. The camera sits much higher, giving you an excellent vantage point to survey the surrounding area. The Elephant's walking pace is slow and deliberate, with heavy footsteps that shake the ground slightly. Sprinting increases the speed somewhat, but even at a full run, the Elephant is noticeably slower than a horse or raptor.
The Elephant can push through small objects and obstacles that would stop smaller mounts, including wooden fences, market stalls, and light barricades. This bulldozing ability makes it useful for forcing a path through cluttered environments. Its large hitbox, however, means it struggles in tight spaces and narrow alleyways.
While mounted on an Elephant, you can still use your own weapons from the saddle. Kliff sits high enough that downward melee attacks have good reach against ground-level enemies. The elevated position also provides a natural defensive advantage, as many enemy attacks have trouble reaching you at that height.
Use the Elephant's height advantage to survey areas before committing to ground-level exploration. The elevated camera is excellent for spotting treasure, enemies, and points of interest.
Do not attempt to use an Elephant for quick travel between distant locations. Its slow speed makes it impractical for long-distance journeys. Use a horse instead.
The Elephant's ability to push through obstacles can be helpful in settlements and fortified areas where you need to force a path.
Elephants are one of the easier temporary mounts to find because they are large and visible from a distance. Look for them in open plains and near NPC trade camps.
Riding an Elephant for the first time registers it in the Fleeting Companions section of the Knowledge Journal.
