Artifacts and Abyss Fragments

Added stat reset/respec function for redistributing Abyss Artifacts, flexible build crafting, no traditional level grinding emphasis, boss signature abilities
Crimson Desert uses a gear-based progression system with no XP bar or traditional levels. Character growth centers on Fragments of the Abyss (also called Abyss Fragments), special resources acquired through exploration, quests, and boss defeats. These fragments upgrade core stats (health, stamina, attack, defense) and enhance or unlock skills.
There is no traditional level grinding. Growth ties to exploration, quest completion, and challenging encounters. This means a player who explores thoroughly and defeats optional bosses will be significantly stronger than one who rushes the main story.
Abyss Fragments are the primary progression resource. They are used to:
Upgrade core stats (health, stamina, attack, defense, Abyss affinity)
Unlock new combat skills and abilities
Enhance existing skills to higher tiers
Power the Axiom Bracelet's elemental abilities
A rarer variant of Abyss Fragments. These sealed artifacts are more powerful and typically found in harder-to-reach locations, from challenging bosses, or deep within Abyss Dungeons.
Crimson Desert includes a stat reset function that allows players to redistribute their Abyss Artifacts at any time. This means you are never locked into a build. If you have been investing in health and stamina for a tanky playstyle but want to try a glass-cannon damage build, you can reset and reallocate all your artifacts.
This flexible build crafting system encourages experimentation. Try a strength-focused melee build, reset, and try an elemental magic build. The game does not punish you for changing your mind.
Confirmed artifact-linked abilities include:
Axiom Bracelet -- Channels elemental magic (fire, ice, lightning, wind, nature). See Axiom Bracelet.
Soul Spear -- A powerful ranged Abyss ability.
Crow's Wing -- Glider obtained through Abyss progression.
Force Palm -- Unarmed Abyss-powered strike.
Precision Focus -- Slow-motion arrow shooting while dodging.
Flurry Slash -- Rapid multi-hit blade technique.
Turning Slash -- Spinning blade attack.
Neckbreaker -- Devastating grapple finisher.
Blinding Flash -- Disorienting AoE flash.
Artillery Whistling Arrows -- Call in allied bombardment on a target area.
Weapons and equipment have Abyss Gear modification slots that can be augmented with artifacts for stat bonuses:
Attack speed bonuses
Increased damage against strong enemies
Critical hit chance improvements
Elemental damage scaling
Some skills are not unlocked through artifacts. Instead, they require discovery-based learning: you must personally witness a technique being used in the world before you can learn it. This applies to both NPC techniques and enemy attacks. The knowledge system tracks what you have observed.
Defeating bosses yields exclusive equipment, costumes, and the ability to use that boss's signature techniques. This means every boss fight has a tangible reward beyond just progression stats. If you defeat a boss, you can learn to fight like they did.
Artifacts come from seven confirmed sources:
Quest rewards (main story and side quests)
Boss defeats (major and challenge bosses)
Territory liberation and faction quests
Exploration discoveries (hidden locations, caves, ruins)
Traces of the Abyss encounters
Abyss realm exploration (floating islands and dungeons)
Reflecting sword light (specific puzzle interactions)
