A Thousand Troops is the first quest of the "Undying Shields" sub-chapter in Chapter 6 of Crimson Desert. Kliff advances on Calphade Castle, reunites with Oonka, and provides tactical support to Stefan Lanford during the assault.
Enter the castle structure ahead of your spawn point and proceed forward. You may encounter hostile soldiers along the way, but you can ignore them and push through. The quest does not require you to clear every enemy.
After an automatic story sequence plays, a second cutscene triggers featuring Stefan Lanford. Once both cinematics conclude, the quest completes. No combat participation is required during these sequences.
Stefan Lanford is the commander of the Calphadean defense. His introduction here sets up the political dynamics that will come to a head in the Traitor quest. Pay attention to the dialogue; it provides context for the betrayal that follows.
You can skip the enemies in the castle if you want. They are optional during the advance.
This quest is short, consisting primarily of two cutscenes with a brief walk between them.
Make sure you are stocked up on healing items before the next quest. Traitor has a boss fight.
Save your progress before starting this quest, especially if you are playing on a higher difficulty setting.
