Tokyo Game Show 2026

Correct regional release wording, event chronology and published character status (2026-10-06)
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse was exhibited at Tokyo Game Show 2026, which opened on September 17, 2026. It was the first playable showing in Japan. The show was scheduled to run through September 21, but its final day was canceled because of severe weather. The game's program included a stream, an exhibit, a playable session and a novelty giveaway before the October 15 launch.
The show took place at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. September 17 and 18 were trade days, and September 19 to 21 were the scheduled public days. The thirtieth edition was planned as a five-day event; severe weather canceled September 21.
Konami's own exhibition release adds a detail its game page does not: the booth's playable stations for this title run on Xbox Series X|S and PC only. There is no PlayStation 5 or Nintendo Switch demo station, and Konami footnotes that the platforms playable on site are only a subset of those the finished game supports. That is a fact about the booth hardware, not about the game's platform list.
Konami bills the TGS build as the first playable exhibition of the game in Japan. Everyone who plays it receives a Tarot Card Acrylic Stand, produced in six designs, one per person while stocks last. Konami's own note says designs cannot be chosen and that distribution ends once the stands run out.
The tarot card framing is not decoration. Sealing defeated bosses into a tarot deck is the game's central system, so the giveaway is a physical version of the thing the player is collecting in the game. See Arcana System.
A twenty-minute TGS hands-on session began in the sewers. Rose fought The Fallen, gained his Holy Cross Arcana, reached a magical door that required the essence of two more bosses and headed toward a guard tower. The account also described Cestus gauntlets and mana recovery through ordinary attacks. This is evidence about that TGS session; it does not establish everything in the downloadable demo or retail build.
Konami broadcast the dedicated game stream on September 20. Its announced slot was 14:00 to 15:30 Japan time, and the recording features the Japanese voices of Trevor Belmont and Death playing the game. The published recording confirms that this program took place; the final-day cancellation notice concerns September 21.
Name | Role on the broadcast |
|---|---|
Ryotaro Okiayu | Japanese voice of Trevor Belmont |
Satoshi Tsuruoka | Japanese voice of Death |
Tsutomu Taniguchi | Producer |
Yukiko Hokao | Director |
Iccho Mori | Host |
The stream lineup credits Yukiko Hokao as Director and provides her romanised name. A July 2026 interview had already identified her as the game's director. The game's main site still has no full credits block; its development and advisory logos do not replace individual credits. See Development History for the rest of the known team.
The same page is also the first Konami surface to publish romanised readings for any of the Japanese cast, giving Ryotaro Okiayu and Satoshi Tsuruoka alongside their roles. Konami's character page lists Japanese performers in kanji only, so those two readings are now confirmed and the remaining eight are not. Japanese name readings are ambiguous and none is guessed at on this wiki. The full cast is on Characters.
Character | Performer | Dates |
|---|---|---|
Momoto Momo | September 17 to 21 | |
AKI | September 17 to 21 | |
JACK | September 17 to 19 | |
Yu Okazaki | September 20 to 21 |
These were the announced appearance dates. Konami warned that schedules could change; the September 21 cancellation shortened the event.
A separate giveaway offers an original shopping bag, entered by following the official Castlevania account for Japan on social media and reposting its pinned post. One prize per person, limited stock.
TGS is the third public show floor the game has reached and the last before release.
Showing | When | Note |
|---|---|---|
gamescom 2026 | August 26 to 30, 2026 | Hands-on at Konami's booth in Cologne, Hall 07.1, Stand A021 to B020. |
PAX West 2026 | Announced by Konami on August 3, 2026 | Konami brought the game to the show alongside two of its other series. |
Tokyo Game Show 2026 | September 17 to 21, 2026 (scheduled; September 21 canceled) | Exhibit, playable demo, stream and giveaway. First playable in Japan. |
Release | October 15, 2026 | Announced release date for all platforms. Regional storefront details are on Release Date and Platforms. |
These show-floor sessions were separate from the downloadable Demo, announced on September 20 and released on October 1. The public download covers the opening chapter and supports save transfer to the full game on the same platform and account.
Konami's show page lists the same five storefront targets the game ships on: PlayStation 5, Xbox on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Steam. No Nintendo Switch 2 version appears on the show page or on any other Konami surface.
Konami is also running a Castlevania fortieth anniversary display at the same show, inside a wider retrospective of its catalogue. That is an exhibit about the series rather than about this game, and nothing shown in it should be read as content in Belmont's Curse.
One further caution about anniversaries at this particular show. The release announcing Konami's lineup headlines a different fortieth anniversary entirely, that of the company's best known cheat code, which first appeared in another of its games in 1986. Two unrelated fortieth anniversaries fall in the same year and the same announcement. The one that concerns this game is the Castlevania series anniversary; see Development History.
