Initial version: brother character revealed in the SGF 2026 hands-on demo
Arrati is the brother of Pei Changguan, the protagonist of Blood Message. He appears in the early-game build shown at Summer Game Fest 2026, accompanying the protagonist through their home settlement during the opening of the Shazhou Uprising as the two search for Pei Changguan’s missing son, Ning.
He is one of a small handful of named characters the studio has shown so far. Because the game has not yet had a wide story reveal beyond the hands-on demo, most of what is known about Arrati comes from press coverage of that demo rather than a dedicated character profile, so the details below should be read as early and subject to change.

In the playable section demonstrated to press, the early game opens with a settlement in the northwestern frontier under attack by Tibetan Empire (Tubo) soldiers. Pei Changguan and Arrati move through the village together, searching for Ning while the assault unfolds around them. The two brothers are shown working as a pair: in some encounters they can approach enemies quietly and take them down together, while in others the situation collapses into open fighting.
Press who played the demo described moments where the brothers line up a shared stealth approach on a group of soldiers, with a failed prompt tipping the scene into a direct brawl. That framing positions Arrati as an active presence in the opening rather than a background bystander, though the studio has not said how large his part is across the wider campaign.
Blood Message centers on family, with the bond between father and son carrying most of the story’s weight. Arrati extends that family frame outward: the protagonist is not a lone wanderer at the start but a man with a brother at his side and a son to find. The demo’s emotional setup, a household torn apart by the raid and a child who is missing when the brothers reach the home, leans on those relationships to give the early violence its stakes.
Most specifics about Arrati remain unconfirmed:
Fate: whether he survives the opening, travels the full road east, or is separated from Pei Changguan early has not been disclosed.
Playable role: it is not known whether he is ever directly controllable, an AI companion, or strictly a story figure.
Background: his age, trade, and life before the uprising have not been described.
Name spelling: the romanized form comes from English-language preview coverage of the demo and may be adjusted in official localization.
Voice cast: no actor has been announced.
