Release date
Beast of Reincarnation launches on August 4, 2026. The release date was confirmed during PlayStation's State of Play broadcast on February 12, 2026, alongside a new gameplay trailer showing extended combat footage and environmental exploration. Publisher Fictions and developer Game Freak had previously announced a "Summer 2026" release window during the Xbox Developer Direct in January 2026, with the State of Play narrowing it to the specific August date.
Platforms
The game releases simultaneously worldwide on three platforms:
PlayStation 5 (digital and physical editions)
Xbox Series X|S (digital and physical editions)
PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store (digital only)
A physical edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S is available day-and-date alongside the digital release. On Xbox and PC, Beast of Reincarnation is available day one on Xbox Game Pass (Console, PC, and Ultimate tiers). The game supports Xbox Play Anywhere, meaning a single purchase on the Microsoft Store grants access on both Xbox and PC. Xbox Cloud Gaming is also supported at launch, allowing Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to stream the game on compatible devices.
Historic significance
Beast of Reincarnation is the first Game Freak title to release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. While Game Freak has produced non-Pokemon titles before (Tembo the Badass Elephant, Giga Wrecker, Little Town Hero, HarmoKnight), those were smaller-scope projects. Beast of Reincarnation is their first non-Pokemon triple-A release, and their first game on a non-Nintendo console since Giga Wrecker released on PC in 2017.
The simultaneous multiplatform launch across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC represents a departure from Game Freak's decades-long pattern of developing exclusively for Nintendo hardware. The inclusion of day-one Game Pass support further signals a strategy aimed at reaching the widest possible audience.
Rating
The game has been rated Teen (T) by the ESRB for Violence and Blood. This rating positions it as accessible to a broad audience, consistent with director Kota Furushima's stated goal of making the game enjoyable for players of varying skill levels through its three difficulty modes.
