Overview

A journey through the jianghu is shaped as much by the people you meet as by the battles you fight. In Hero's Adventure: Another Tale, you forge bonds with your Companions over the course of the game, and those bonds are woven into the wider experience rather than tucked away in a menu. The connection between you and your allies grows through play, not through a single conversation.

The clearest confirmed home for this bonding is the game's events. Bonds with companions develop across many Game Events of varying lengths, the same events that carry much of the story and the everyday texture of the martial world. Sharing these moments is how relationships deepen.

Building Bonds Through Events

The companions each arrive with their own secrets, ambitions, and temperaments, and getting closer to any of them is partly a process of discovery. As you move through the game's many events, you spend time with these allies in situations that range from brief encounters to longer, more involved sequences. Those shared experiences are the confirmed backbone of how you bond with the people who travel at your side.

Because companions are distinct from one another, the way you relate to one may look quite different from the way you relate to another. The specifics of each companion's arc are tied to details that have not yet been revealed, including their names and personal stories. This page will grow as those details become public.

Why Bonds Matter in Combat

Relationships are not purely a narrative flourish. The companions you bond with also fight beside you, and their cooperation feeds the party's shared options on the battlefield. The link between growing closer to an ally and what that ally can do in a fight runs through the Team Skills system, where coordinated abilities draw on more than one party member at once. In short, the people you invest in are also the people who can turn a battle in your favor.

Bonds Take Center Stage

In August 2026 the studio delayed the game to around late December 2026, and the reason it gave was precisely this system: it judged the density and warmth of companion-bond content short of players' expectations and chose to spend the extra months raising it.

The work it described includes expanding key emotional moments for more of the major companions, adding new scenes and art that convey those relationships, and introducing Campfire conversations, a new feature in which companions sit around the fire and share small stories and everyday moments. The same update confirmed the roster: 13 companions, each with their own side stories and character events.

Expected Carryover From the Original Game

This is where it is worth being careful about what is confirmed versus what players hope to see.

In the studio's earlier game, Hero's Adventure: Road to Passion, the social layer ran much wider than a handful of companions. That original title featured a deep relationship and bonding system built around a player-shaped relationship network, with many bondable characters rather than just a fixed party. It also modeled a living world: the characters who populated it followed their own independent daily schedules, with personal likes and dislikes and their own social circles, so the world felt populated by people who had lives of their own.

Because Hero's Adventure: Another Tale is described as continuing the spirit of the original, many players expect that broader social-simulation depth, a wide web of bondable characters and a living, schedule-driven population, to return in some form. However, the studio has not yet confirmed that this title carries those systems forward, and no specifics about a wider relationship network or NPC daily routines have been announced for this game. Treat that wider depth as expected but unconfirmed. What is confirmed today is bonding with the game's 13 companions through their side stories, character events, and the wider event stream.

Bonds That Open the World

Growing close to a companion is not only a story reward. As a bond deepens, an ally can teach the protagonist their signature technique, and some of those techniques reshape how you move through the jianghu. The demo shows this with a Disguise skill: once learned from a companion, it lets the player slip into areas that were previously closed off and carry the story forward. Companion ties therefore feed directly into choices and consequences and into where exploration can go, not just into how fights play out.
