11 Hero Quests are the AION 2 main story line. Each faction plays its own chain of episodes, and that chain is what carries a character from the prologue through the home territory of Verteron or Altgard. NCsoft's global service notices call them Hero Quests, and the in-game quest journal files them under the Story type.

33 The chain is also a gate. On the Korean and Taiwanese build, finishing the hero quest line in Verteron or Altgard spawns the spatial transfer portal to Eltnen or Morheim, the territories added by Chapter 1. Lands of Sand and Snow, and the portal additionally checks level, item level and combat power.

55 Hero Quests are live on the global service. The first maintenance after Advance Access opened, on September 30, 2026 at 23:00 PDT, fixed a bottleneck when interacting with quest objects in Elyos Hero Quests in Northern Tolbas Forest, Eastern Tolbas Forest and Altamia Highland, and in Asmodian Hero Quests in Basfelt Ruins, Purifying Forest, Fafnite Deposit and Impetusium Square.

7+The official Korean guidebook calls the same chain Episode quests (에피소드) and lists them in the Episode tab of the Journal. Each episode quest pays experience and currency as its base reward and some items as an additional reward. Episode, district and exploration progress also fills the Daeva Gauge that triggers the next Ascension quest.

9+The October 4 to 5, 2026 global maintenance added a Quest Tracker button that teleports a character to Verteron or Altgard while it is progressing through the Poeta or Ishalgen Hero Quests, for players who could not otherwise travel on, and fixed quests that could not continue after the client closed mid-quest.

1519 A recurring cast carries each side. Nania, Caelid, Phernos, Luteros and Dymones give most of the Elyos episode quests; Nemon, Ulgorn, Menrik, Hadala and Urd do the same for the Asmodians. Both chains reach a quest named Empyrean Monolith at level 16, which introduces the Monoliths and Empyrean Traces system, and both close their level 45 episode by sending the character to the Abyss Base.

24+Launch-era player guides (November 2025) add two observations: the quest Draupnir, the second-to-last quest of the level 40 to 45 Elyos episode, rewards a Unique weapon for the character's class after one Draupnir clear, and main quest experience jumps from the level 37 quest in episode 5 onward, which makes pushing the story the fastest way to level.
