11The Gladiator is one of the five Beginner classes in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. Nintendo's dedicated presentation introduced it with a line about handling weapons, and the published English class description says the same thing more plainly: the Gladiator can deal devastating damage with weapons such as swords, axes and gauntlets. The proficiency list backs that up: three physical weapon types on a starting class, which is the widest physical spread published at the Beginner tier.2233Profile4455FieldValueTierBeginnerUnit typeInfantryProficienciesSword, Axe, GauntletMovement4Class mastery skillAttack Basics66Role in Battle7788Each of the three proficiencies pulls in a different direction. Swords are the straightforward option and are reported to deal 1.2 times damage on a follow-up attack. Axes trade accuracy for attack power and are said to land at least 5 damage on any hit that connects. Gauntlets make a unit harder to hit. A Gladiator can carry any of them and train the rank for all three at once, which is what separates it from the other Beginner classes.991010The gauntlet slot is worth noting for a second reason. Firearms in this setting are filed under gauntlets rather than given a category of their own, so the type a Gladiator trains covers the guns as well as the fists. Individual firearms still carry their own rank and owner restrictions, which Weapons sets out in full.11111212Compare the two other physical Beginner classes: the Hunter pairs a sword with a bow for reach, and the Soldier pairs lances and axes with armour for defence. The Gladiator has neither range nor armour and leans on weapon flexibility instead.13131414Class Mastery15151616Mastering the class unlocks Attack Basics, whose interface icon is a crossed axe and sword. As of September 2026, no effect has been published for it. The matching Beginner-tier magic class, the Diviner, has Magic Basics in the same slot with a reported effect of Magic and Resistance +1, but as of September 2026 no figure has been shown for Attack Basics and none is guessed at here.17171818As of September 2026, no innate class skill has been named for the Gladiator. Only the three Advanced classes with full data blocks list innate skills so far.19192020Characters Shown as Gladiators21212222CharacterWhere the Class Was ShownNezhaThe dedicated Direct, in the Beginner-tier rundownDietrichShown at Level 12 in the class in pre-launch footageMikaelaShown in the class carrying an axe rather than a swordMuShown in the class2323None of these is a fixed assignment. Units move between classes by passing a certification exam, so a class sighting records where a character was at that point in a build. Certification Exams covers the mechanic.24242525The Word in the Setting26262727Gladiator names an activity in this world as well as a class. The arena plaza in Dagsion runs gladiator bouts day and night, and on match days you can watch rival teams fight there to gather intel on them before facing them yourself. Training at the same plaza is how units raise the weapon ranks an exam checks, which is covered on Between-Match Preparation.28282929Class Stats30303131As of September 2026, no base stats, growth rates or stat modifiers for the Gladiator have appeared on any class screen.
