Abyss equipment is the PvP gear line of AION 2, bought in the Abyss shop with Abyss Points and merit medals and upgraded rank by rank through Transfer Crafting. Every piece carries PvP Damage Boost (weapons, Guards and accessories) or PvP Damage Tolerance (armor) as a base stat, and the armor, accessories and Guards form sets whose bonuses raise damage against Abyss monsters. Each rank comes in a Guardian (가디언) and an Archon (아칸) version with the same stats; in the official item database neither version is restricted to a race. The Rank Ladder
The three Unique ranks have English names in the global client: Decanus, Centurion and Tribunus. NCsoft's English announcements name the Archon Praetorian Captain and Elite Archon Praetorian Captain gear. The Legion Commander rank (군단장) has no English name yet and is given as a plain rendering.

The Elite and [진] weapons are classified as Extend weapons (늘어남) in the item database. Weapons carry 10 percent PvP Damage Boost from Decanus up to Elite Praetorian Captain and 15 percent at the [진] tier. Exact weapon stats per class are on each weapon page, for example Greatsword.
Upgrading Through the Ranks
Since May 27, 2026, Transfer Crafting recipes that use Abyss Points and merit medals upgrade a piece one rank at a time while keeping its enhancement, breakthrough and Soul Inscription: Decanus to Centurion to Tribunus for weapons, Guards, armor and accessories, and Legion Commander to Elite Legion Commander to Praetorian Captain for weapons and Guards.
Since July 1, 2026, Tribunus gear can be carried into Legion Commander gear, which bridges the Unique and Hero ranks, and Legion Commander armor into Praetorian Captain armor.
Legion Commander accessories carry into Praetorian Captain accessories since August 12, 2026, and Praetorian Captain gear into the [진] tier since September 16, 2026.
From January 21 to March 25, 2026, Tribunus gear required the rank of 1-Star Officer and Legion Commander gear the rank of General to buy; the March 25 update removed those rank limits. See Abyss Ranks.
The Praetorian Captain weapon and Guard were added to the Arena and Battlefield exchange shops on June 10, 2026.
Set Effects
The Guard, armor and accessories of one rank form a set (the main weapon is not part of it). Every set level also lowers ordinary PvE Damage Boost by 5 percent, so the set favors fighting in the Abyss over other content. Current values from the official item database:

Abyss PvE damage is the item database's PvE Abyss Damage Boost (PVE 어비스 피해 증폭), which applies to damage against monsters in the Abyss. The values have risen several times: on February 25, 2026 the 5, 8 and 12 piece bonuses went from 10 percent to 12.5, 15 and 20 percent; on August 26 they became 15, 20, 30 and 40 percent; on September 9 they were split by rank; and on September 16 the 12 piece bonus rose to 45, 50 and 55 percent for the three top ranks.
Potential
Abyss equipment has its own potential track, added April 8, 2026, which uses Potential Amplification Stones: Abyss (잠재력 증폭석: 어비스) and Abyss Points. There are four stages, and the guidebook notes that potential stages are not carried over by succession. The values below are the April 8, 2026 patch notes'; the guidebook's own table lists the armor and accessory steps as PvE Damage Tolerance and PvE Damage Boost instead.

The amplification stones drop from Abyss monsters (unbound since September 16, 2026), come in Unique and Hero grades, and are also rewards of the weekly Abyss season missions and of the merit chests from Abyss bosses. Abyss Corridor monsters stopped dropping them on April 29, 2026.
Merit Medals
The shop and the upgrade recipes take Silver, Gold and Platinum merit medals (은/금/백금 공훈 훈장). Since February 11, 2026 they can be bought with Abyss Points in the Abyss exchange shop: Silver for 10,000, Gold for 30,000 and Platinum for 100,000 Abyss Points, with weekly limits per character (Silver 20 and Gold 10 since April 8, 2026). Medals also come from Abyss bosses, season missions, the Battlefield and medal conversion: one Silver medal and 150,000 Kina can become a Gold or, on a great success, a Platinum medal, and higher medals can be broken down into two of the next lower medal.
A Korean community guide from May 2026 put the price of five Centurion armor pieces at about 120 Silver medals and the Legion Commander weapon or Guard at about 240 Platinum medals; these are community figures and the shop may have changed since.
Global Service
The global client's item data (build dated September 18, 2026) contains the Decanus, Centurion and Tribunus ranks and none of the Hero ranks.
