Malta is the location of MI6's 00 Programme training facility in 007 First Light. Chapter 1 (The Needle's Eye) and the companion segment In His Majesty's Secret Service are set there. Bond first meets M, Q, Moneypenny, Selina Tan, and John Greenway at the Malta facility. The Q Branch gadget loadout terminal and the Tactical Simulation Mode terminal are anchored to this location.

Story Context

Bond arrives at Malta after the Iceland prologue. The chapter walks through the training facility's social spaces, classrooms, gadget terminals, and the dedicated TacSim room. Other 00 Programme candidates are present; some recur across the campaign. The facility serves as MI6's primary candidate-training hub.
