Hellfire
September 11, 2026 at 10:13 PM
Initial version (2026-09-11)
The Hellfire is the Protectorate long range artillery vehicle, a Tier 2.5 unit that fires six Ifrit Scatter Missiles in a volley every 5 seconds and can siege in place to extend its reach by 87.5 percent. It is the slowest combat vehicle the faction builds. Figures below describe build ZS.c36778 of 11 September 2026 and move with the weekly patch cadence.
Stat | Value |
|---|---|
Cost | 150 hexite and 100 flux |

The entity data publishes no flat armour number for the Hellfire and no status resist value, so both are recorded above as absent rather than as zero.
Weapon | Damage | DPS | Range | Cooldown | Targets | Bonuses |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Ifrit Scatter Missile | 16 per missile, 6 missiles per volley | 19 | 14, or 26.25 in siege mode | 5 seconds | Ground | None. Splash at full damage across 2 range |
Ability | Effect | Cooldown | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
Siege mode | Sieges the Hellfire for +87.5 percent attack range, taking it from 14 to 26.25. The unit cannot move while sieged | 2.5 seconds | No listed cost |
Upgrade | Tier | Cost | Effect | Researched at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Resonant Missiles | 1 | 150 flux, 60 second research | +50 percent missile speed and +25 percent missile damage | Mechanical Research Lab |
A Hellfire volley is 96 damage spread across six missiles, each splashing at full damage over 2 range. Against a clustered army that is far more than the 19 damage per second figure suggests, and against a single target it is much less, so the unit is priced around hitting groups.
Siege mode is what makes it a siege weapon rather than a slow tank. Extending from 14 to 26.25 puts the Hellfire outside the reach of nearly every ground weapon in the game, including the 17 range a Sentinel reaches with Longshot Calibration. The cost is total immobility while sieged and a 2.5 second cooldown on the transition, so a sieged Hellfire that is flanked is simply lost.
Resonant Missiles is the only upgrade and it improves both halves of the weapon: 25 percent more damage per missile and 50 percent more missile speed, which reduces the number of volleys that miss a moving target.
At 400 move speed the Hellfire arrives last at every fight. It wants a Bastion line or a Strider in front of it and something that can shoot air nearby, because the missiles cannot target flyers at all.
The Hellfire is built at the Assembly Plant alongside the Predator and the Titan, and its single upgrade sits in the Mechanical Research Lab.
It is the faction's answer to static defence and massed infantry, which is the same role the Protectorate fills with position and attrition generally. Since 28 August 2026 a Hauler can no longer pick up a sieged unit, so a Hellfire that has committed to siege mode has to unsiege before it can be extracted.
Medium armour on 300 health with no published flat armour value. Against anything that reaches it the Hellfire is not durable, and every anti Medium bonus on the roster multiplies into it.
The missiles carry no armour type bonus of their own. Their efficiency comes from the six missile volley and the 2 range splash rather than from a multiplier, which means the Hellfire performs the same against Light, Medium and Heavy targets and is chosen for how tightly they are packed, not for what they are made of.
Strong against:
Unit | Why |
|---|---|
cheap infantry in numbers, where six splashing missiles hit many at once | |
spawned swarms clump, which is the worst possible shape against scatter missiles | |
massed light infantry inside a 2 range splash | |
Static defences | siege mode reaches 26.25, outside the range of most turrets |
Weak to:
Unit | Why |
|---|---|
+100 percent against Medium armour | |
+100 percent against Medium with splash across 3 range | |
800 move speed against a 400 speed artillery piece, with +50 percent against Medium | |
a flyer the Hellfire cannot target at all | |
Any flyer | the Ifrit Scatter Missile targets ground only |
No dated first party balance change to the Hellfire appears in the Early Access patch notes through 1 September 2026, and its entity data is unchanged across the 15 days to 11 September 2026. The faction wide armour rework of 11 August 2026 did not touch it, because its weapon carries no armour type bonus.
For the rest of the roster and how to read a stat block, see Units. For hexite, flux, supply and the power pool behind unit conversions, see Resources and Economy. For the commanders that lead a Protectorate army, see Heroes and Commanders.
The stats above describe build ZS.c36778 of 11 September 2026. Versus balance moves on a weekly cadence during Early Access, so a figure that is right today may be adjusted in the next pass.
