Sergeant

Comprehensive content update
The Sergeant is a mid-tier officer in Blackbeard's Crew, filling the rank between line Deckhands and named lieutenants. Sergeants are the encounter that anchors most Blackbeard outpost defenses: they hold the door, they carry the keys, and they reliably drop a Guinea when killed.
Sergeants spawn at Blackbeard Outposts and on patrolling Blackbeard ships. Specific named variants appear in scripted quest sequences:
Richards' Lieutenant — the Sergeant attached to Captain Thomas Richards' command branch.
Hands' Lieutenant — the Sergeant attached to Israel Hands' branch, encountered during the Lost Cargo quest steps.
Sergeants are pistol-and-saber officers. Engagement pattern:
Open the fight with a single pistol shot at medium range, then close to saber range.
Hold a tight parry guard. Wide spinning sweeps and unblockable thrusts come in punish windows; staggers create the opening.
Almost always engaged with two to three Blackbeard Sailor deckhands as escort. Break sight on the deckhands first or accept that the fight will be a 3-vs-1 from the start.
Lower hit points than a Lieutenant, but higher than a regular deckhand.

The guaranteed Guinea is the headline. Most enemies in the game pay in Piastres or in vendor-resold trophies; Sergeants are one of only a few enemy types that drop a Guinea directly. Stacking Sergeant kills across an outpost run is one of the most reliable Guinea income paths in early-to-mid game.
Pull Sergeants apart from their escort. A flashbang grenade or a noise distraction can split the patrol long enough to drop the Sergeant in two clean swings.
Loot quickly. The Insignia stack drives Faction Reputation turn-ins, and the Guinea sits in inventory weight-free.
Sergeant fights are the best place to practice parries. Their telegraphs are wide enough to read and short enough to punish without a lengthy reload window.
