Sea Serpent is a purely visual sail design. Like every sail, hull, flag, and figurehead option in Ship Customization, it is stat-neutral: it changes only how the ship looks and signals your allegiance to other crews at sea, with no effect on speed, hull points, or cargo. Choose it for style, not stats.
Do not confuse this sail with Wise Serpent, a separate Smugglers flag design unlocked from a different Style Book. Sea Serpent is the sail; Wise Serpent is a flag.
Bring the ship to a Shipwright-built Wharf, open the customization menu, and select the matching sail slot. Sea Serpent appears in the option list once the unlock condition (Style Book or stock availability) is met.
Unlocked by reading the matching Style Book, sold by the Smugglers of Port Royal Provisioner. Style Books for the Smugglers of Port Royal are priced in Guineas, not Piastres, and gated behind reputation tiers.
This cosmetic name appears in the database under the Brig-class entry, but the underlying design is shared across Brig, Frigate, and Ketch hull classes. Once the Style Book is read, the option is available for every ship class your character has built or unlocked.

Sea Serpent sits in the database under the Brig class but, once its design is unlocked, the sail can be fitted to any hull you have built. Apply and swap it freely at any Shipwright-built Wharf; changing a sail design costs nothing and can be reversed at any time, so there is no penalty for experimenting with the look across your Brig, Frigate, and Ketch hulls.
