A row of weathered tomes lined up spine-out, their pages scribbled with notes about storms, safe anchorages, and shady deals. As a flat-laid shelf piece it reads as a small library, pairing naturally with cabinets, desks, and other study furnishings.

Row of Books is one of the cheapest entries in the Books decoration line. It costs only a handful of Wood and finishes almost instantly, which makes it a common first pick when you just need the comfort category filled.

How to Obtain

Row of Books is built, not looted. You unlock it from the Decoration: Books and Scrolls plan, after which it can be placed from the building menu for a one second build time. The recipe consumes only Wood, so it is easy to spam early on while you gather rarer materials for the larger sets.

Comfort and Placement

Like every furnishing in this group, the piece only feeds your settlement score when it sits inside the radius of a Bonfire. Set it down outside that range and it still works as scenery, but it adds nothing to the Comfort System total. Inside the radius it grants +1 Comfort toward the Books category.

That bonus does not stack with other items of the same category, so one Books piece already supplies the full category contribution. You raise the overall comfort tier by mixing different decoration categories around a single bonfire rather than crowding the room with copies of one model. In practice this makes the build a cheap, fast way to tick the Books box while you save scarcer materials for gear and ships.

• Use Row of Books as the throwaway Books filler so your rarer materials go to weapons, armor, and ship upgrades.

• Keep it inside the Bonfire radius; outside it the comfort bonus is lost.

• To push the Comfort System tier higher, add pieces from other categories rather than a second books model.
