Roof (Reed) is a base-tier building piece in the Reed roof set, the earliest roof material the player can craft in Windrose. Reed pieces are cheap, light to carry, and intended for the first hut you raise in the Coastal Jungle before the Foothills biome opens. Their distinctive look is a steep 64° silhouette and a thatched texture that contrasts with the later Clay-and-Log walls.
This piece belongs to the Reed Roofs and Clay Walls starter building set. The full set is unlocked together by a single recipe paper, Plans: Reed Roofs and Clay Walls, which drops from early Pirate Camp loot crates and is also commonly available from the Tortuga Vendor.
Set siblings include: Roof (Reed), Large Roof (Reed), Roof Ridge (Reed), Roof Corner (Reed), Large Pediment (Reed), and the matching Wall (Clay and Log) pieces.
Roof (Reed) snaps to the top edge of any compatible foundation or wall in the same building system. Its 64° pitch makes it the steepest reed roof option, useful for tall, narrow huts where rain-shedding silhouette matters or where you need ridge clearance for a chimney from a Fireplace below.
As an early-game piece it shares the standard 1,000 max-health durability with most starter materials and breaks under sustained pirate raids. Once you have access to Foothills resources, plan to upgrade exposed roof surfaces to clay or stone-tier roofing for boarding-defense bases.
The reed set covers every angle and edge you need to close off a thatched roof. Mix the pieces below so a hut roof meets cleanly at the ridges, corners, and gable ends:
Roof (Reed): the standard sloped panel at a steep 64 degree pitch.
Large Roof (Reed): a wider panel that covers more span in a single placement.
Roof Ridge (Reed): caps the apex where two opposing slopes meet.
Roof Corner (Reed): closes the diagonal join where two roof runs turn a corner.
Large Pediment (Reed): fills the triangular gable face under the slope.
Reed roofing is the cheapest roof in the game at one Wood and two Plant Fiber per piece, so it is the natural first roof for a starter hut while you bank materials for sturdier tiers.
The one second build time and low cost make reed roofs easy to tear down and replace, so do not over-invest in a temporary camp; save the effort for a permanent base.
All reed pieces share the same 1,000 max health. For a base you expect to defend, treat reed as scaffolding and re-roof in a higher tier once Foothills materials are available.
