The Mystic Koi is a ship flag cosmetic in Windrose, applied at the Shipwright to customize a player ship's flagstaff. The Mystic Koi design is associated with the Smugglers of Port Royal.
Despite the fishy name, Mystic Koi is not a catchable fish. It is purely a banner artwork for your ship, one of four designs unlocked together by the Smugglers Style Book. It has no effect on sailing speed, cargo, or combat.
In the Far East, it symbolizes grit and good fortune. Legend tells of a koi that fights the current, conquers a waterfall, and becomes a dragon.

Bring the ship to a Shipwright-built Wharf, open the customization menu, and select the matching flag slot. Mystic Koi appears in the option list once the unlock condition (Style Book or stock availability) is met. Swapping flags is free and reversible, so you can change it as often as you like once the design is unlocked.
Unlocked by reading the matching Style Book, sold by the Smugglers of Port Royal Provisioner. Style Books for the Smugglers of Port Royal are priced in Guineas, the rare premium currency, rather than Piastres, and are gated behind Faction Reputation tiers. The Smugglers run the only Guinea exchange counter in the game, so you can convert Piastres into Guineas there if you are short on premium currency for the book.
The Smugglers Style Book unlocks four flag designs at once. Reading the book once makes the whole set available at the Shipwright.

This cosmetic name appears in the database under the Brig-class entry, but the underlying design is shared across Brig, Frigate, and Ketch hull classes. Once the Style Book is read, the option is available for every ship class your character has built or unlocked.

Mystic Koi is a flagstaff banner only. It changes the artwork flown above your ship and nothing else, so the choice between it and the other Smugglers designs comes down to looks. Players chasing a matching faction theme often pair it with other Smugglers customization pieces, while the plain Smugglers of Port Royal Flag reads as the most overtly factional of the four.
