Lost Cargo Journals are three Legendary notes written by an anonymous sailor aboard the Unsinkable, Israel Hands's flagship. They are torn from the same journal and recovered individually from sunken wrecks, boarded ships, and shoreline crash sites.
Read in order, the three pages sketch a single narrative arc: Thomas Richards's men come to reclaim an artifact Hands had taken, fail violently, and the captain's behavior deteriorates from there. They are the primary lore source for the rift between Hands and Richards that shapes the mid-game questline.
The set is made up of three Legendary journal pages. Each is its own item and can be read on pickup; they do not need to be collected in order, but reading all three reveals the full arc of the rift between Israel Hands and Thomas Richards.

| A few days back, Richards's men showed up demanding the artifact. The captain cut down three on the spot and shot a fourth; three more were dropped in the scuffle and the survivors were hanged by Hands personally. | |
| The captain is acting jumpy. Even after the wound he never did rein in his temper, but since taking the artifact off Richards he mutters under his breath in an unknown tongue, eyes wild. Even those closest to him are keeping their distance. | |
| Hands sent the Unsinkable out with his trusted men to bring back more prisoners. The old ones are already gone, dragged off one by one to somewhere the writer doesn't know. Merchant ships rarely come to the archipelago now and Tortuga lies in ruins. |
The artifact Hands took from Richards is clearly supernatural. Its effect on Hands matches the symptoms other lore sources describe around Senkamati relics.
The "Unsinkable" is a named plot ship and appears elsewhere in-game as an encounter. The journal confirms it is still active under Hands's command.
The prisoner abductions hint at a ritual component, echoing the Senkamati priest's blood rituals described in the Clay Tablets.
Dropped by crew members of the Unsinkable during boarding engagements.
Looted from sunken wrecks (see Shipwreck) along the routes the Unsinkable patrols.
Occasional reward from mid-game quests tied to the Hands/Richards conflict.
