Flax Oil is a Common processed oil in Windrose. It is derived from Flax Seeds, the core Seedbed crop. Because Flax Seeds already flow through every base that crafts fabric (Flax into Flax Fibers into Rigging and Coarse Fabric), the seeds themselves are often stockpiled from the regeneration bonus of harvesting, and Flax Oil becomes a low-effort side output of any serious farming setup.

Flax Oil is produced at the Cutting Table upgrade of the Cooking Fire. Four Flax Seeds produce a single Flax Oil in ten seconds. That short timer lets a mature Flax setup queue large Flax Oil batches in a single crafting session.

The recipe is a flat four Flax Seeds to one Flax Oil, with no secondary ingredient, so output scales directly with how much Flax you keep planted. A Seedbed row of Flax left running will outpace what Rigging and Coarse Fabric consume, and the surplus seeds become Flax Oil at no extra farming cost.

How to Obtain the Ingredient

Flax Seeds come from harvesting Flax planted in a Seedbed. Flax is the single most important Farming System crop because every fiber-based craft in the game eventually traces back to it. A standard starter farm of fifteen Flax plants will produce Flax Seeds faster than Rigging and Coarse Fabric can consume them, and the overflow is the natural input for Flax Oil production.

Uses

• Cooking recipes that use a neutral oil as a base. Flax Oil rotates into the same slot as Coconut Oil in several dishes, so the choice often comes down to which stockpile is larger at the time.

• Potion and consumable recipes. A subset of recipes at the Alchemy Table use Flax Oil as a carrier ingredient.

• Crafting-component recipes that predate the live-build consumer lists. Because Flax Oil shares a common data tag, additional recipes may fold in during future content passes.

Farming Tips

• Treat Flax Oil as a byproduct of Flax farming rather than the primary goal. If the Rigging stockpile is healthy, Flax Oil production absorbs the surplus seeds without additional planting.

• The ten-second craft timer is short enough that running Flax Oil on the Cutting Table does not block higher-priority recipes for long. Queue Flax Oil last in a crafting session so the higher-value recipes finish on time.

• Flax Oil stacks to 20 and is not weight-heavy. Keep a spare stack in the ship inventory for away-base cooking before long expeditions.
