The First Mural is the opening fragment of a three-part Senkamati lore sequence carved into ruin stone. The text is written in the voice of a Senkamati survivor who has watched the Day of Great Sorrow pass and is beginning to fear what will come.
Twelve winters have passed since the Day of Great Sorrow, yet my god has not returned.
We offer the living heat of our blood and raise our prayers. They go unanswered.
The sickness has not touched any of us yet, but I feel it, in the water, in the earth, in the whisper of grass beneath my feet. One day it will reach us.
Our people in the mountain city live as though nothing ever happened. They raise temples to the Lord of Death and listen to the silence. They wish to forget.
That is why we must remember.
The Day of Great Sorrow is the in-fiction start point for the Senkamati downfall, which the in-game world frames as the Corruption that produces the modern Plague Marks creatures. The First Mural is the earliest narrator voice fragment in this sequence, written twelve winters after the disaster but before the speaker has accepted that the sickness will reach their city.
Two details set up the rest of the sequence. The speaker offers blood sacrifice to a god who has gone silent, and they contrast their own grieving community with the people of the mountain city who raise temples to the Lord of Death and choose to forget. The closing line, a plea to remember, frames the whole mural set as a deliberate record left for those who come after. Read alongside the Second Mural and Third Mural, it traces the slide from faith to dread to ruin.
Like the other Senkamati murals and tablets, the First Mural is recovered from Ancient Ruins and other ruined Points of Interest rather than crafted. It is a lore collectible with no combat or crafting use; reading the set in order is the reward. Exact spawn odds are not consistent enough across sources to state precisely here.
