The Cooking Fire is the foundational cooking station in Windrose. Unlike most crafting stations, the Cooking Fire can be placed anywhere without being tied to a Bonfire radius, which makes it particularly useful for field meals before boss fights or long expeditions.
Attribute | Details |
|---|---|
Cost | 3 Wood + 3 Stone |
Comfort | +1 |
Placement | Anywhere; does not require Bonfire range |
Roof | Not required |
Food in Windrose does not prevent starvation because the game has no hunger or thirst system. Instead, food provides temporary maximum health increases and stat buffs. Players can stack two food buffs and one drink buff simultaneously. Basic foods last around 7 minutes, and higher-rarity cooked recipes last up to 30 minutes. See Food and Potions for the full recipe list.
The Cooking Fire has three companion-structure upgrades. Each unlocks a new tier of recipes.
Upgrade | Cost |
|---|---|
Cutting Table | 10 Wood + 2 Copper Ingot |
Cookware Shelf | 10 Hardwood + 2 Ironware (requires roof) |
Supplies Rack | 5 Hardwood + 5 Coffee Beans + 5 Salt + 5 Nuts + 5 Lobster Mushroom |
Because the Cooking Fire does not require a Bonfire, experienced players carry the materials (3 Wood + 3 Stone) and drop a field Cooking Fire before boss fights or dungeon runs. This lets you stack fresh food buffs in front of a difficult encounter without having to fast-travel back to your main base. Plan to eat a Strength or Agility food right before the fight so the full 30-minute duration covers the encounter and any dungeon cleanup.
