Broken Blade is already equipped when the player wakes up on the starting island after the prologue ambush. There is no crafting recipe, no drop table, and no vendor that sells a replacement Broken Blade once the original is lost.
The Broken Blade is the starting-island tutorial weapon. It exists to teach combat basics (light attacks, heavy attacks, stamina management, dodge) before the player has access to any crafted weapons. Most players use it for the first 30 to 60 minutes of play, until a Saber or other Uncommon weapon becomes craftable at the Weaponsmith Workshop (7 Copper Ingot + 2 Rough Hide).
Broken Blade is explicitly positioned as the "embarrassing starting point of the game's largest weapon family (sabers), stretching from this humble beginning all the way up to rare weapons" per community guides. Its 90 base damage and Grade C scaling make it markedly weaker than even the Uncommon Saber (100 base, Grade B). Replacing it is the single most impactful early-game upgrade.
