Virtua Fighter Crossroads is the next mainline entry in SEGA's Virtua Fighter series, widely counted as the sixth, and its first all-new installment in roughly two decades, developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio (RGG Studio) and previously known as Virtua Fighter New Project. It reimagines the franchise as a narrative-driven action-adventure built around the theme of "crossroads": an omnibus story told through four protagonists, each with their own convictions and pasts, including a newly revealed fighter named Cielo. The game is set in Vilasapara, a fictional island city in Southeast Asia known as the City of Martial Arts, with distinct districts to explore, side quests, and choices in and out of combat that affect alliances and outcomes. It pairs a cinematic Story mode of multi-opponent brawls and boss encounters with a separate Versus mode offering local and online play, while keeping Virtua Fighter's signature streamlined controls. Announced at Summer Game Fest 2026, it is scheduled for 2027; SEGA has not yet announced which platforms it will ship on, though the producer has said it is being built for home consoles rather than arcades.
