The cast of Virtua Fighter Crossroads mixes brand-new leads with familiar series veterans, set against the four-perspective structure described on the The Four Protagonists page. Only a portion of the roster has been shown so far, and full details on most fighters remain under wraps.
Cielo headlines the reveal as the new face of the series, a Paraguayan-American outsider newly arrived in Vilasapara who fights in a grounded, mixed-martial-arts style. Alongside him, returning veterans and new faces have appeared in early footage, and the first competitive Versus Mode gameplay showed three fighters in action, and a masked newcomer, the Bakunawa Killer, was revealed at Evo 2026.

Beyond Cielo, the studio has said each of the four protagonists carries a different thematic tone that colors their stretch of the story, with one of them framed around a film-noir mood that contrasts with Cielo's brighter, more conventional hero arc. Two of the four leads have now been named, Cielo and Stella Bridge, while the remaining two are confirmed but not yet revealed.
The first teaser for the project, released under its earlier name, was led by a redesigned version of franchise mainstay Akira Yuki. With Crossroads, that spotlight has shifted to Cielo, and the studio has not yet laid out the complete fighter list. Additional characters, including the other two protagonists, are expected to be revealed ahead of the 2027 launch.
Roster Approach
The producer has declined to state how many fighters will be available at launch. Rather than inflating the initial line-up, he has said the team wants a first roster that is dense and complete, on the reasoning that a single Virtua Fighter character carries a very large number of techniques and rewards long study. That same density is why the count cannot simply be inflated: every fighter added raises the balancing load the team has to carry. How many returning fighters there will be, and in what order they arrive, is something he has asked players to wait on. Roster sizes circulating in the community are not official figures.
Asked directly whether the four leads and the returning fighters shown so far can be used in versus play, the producer answered that the characters whose figures are currently visible can be used, and that what happens with the rest of the series’ fighters is a question for later.
He has also been clear about how a returning fighter earns a place. The test is whether they can show up well in this game's setting, not whether their style fills a hole in the line-up. When it was put to him that Cielo's striking-led mixed martial arts points to one particular veteran with a similar background, he rejected the reasoning outright: the setting comes first, and the only question he asks himself is whether the character will look good arriving in this world.
One newcomer has been confirmed without being named: a Korean fighter will join the Versus Mode line-up, a first for the series. The producer described the character as a woman and said fuller details would follow later. A July 2026 teaser image showed only her feet, wearing what appears to be ankle protectors; no other design details have been shown.
Returning fighters are part of the story rather than bonus content. The producer has said legacy characters will appear but not simply for the sake of it, and that depending on whose path you follow the same veteran may turn up as a friend, a rival, a mentor or an enemy. Not every classic fighter is expected to turn up in Vilasapara, and the team has set out to show how each has been living in the years that have passed. Pai Chan, for example, appears in this era running a Chinese restaurant under the name Madame Su. She turns up to haul the protagonists out of a bad spot and signs off with the line “You lack kung fu”. The producer's own pitch for the idea was that it would be cool if the woman who has aged into the auntie at the Chinese restaurant turned out to be Pai. The restaurant sits in Cielo's stretch of the game.
A mural glimpsed in the Cielo story trailer animates, and the two figures picked out on the wall are Akira and Jacky. Asked directly whether that confirmed Jacky Bryant, the producer declined to answer and said he would leave it to the audience's imagination, so only the fighters listed above are confirmed.
