Virtua Fighter Crossroads is developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the team behind SEGA's long-running drama-driven action games, and published by SEGA. It represents the studio's first crack at the Virtua Fighter series and an ambitious reinvention of it, fusing the studio's strengths in storytelling and city exploration with the series' fighting fundamentals.
The game began life under the working name Virtua Fighter New Project before being formally titled and revealed during Summer Game Fest 2026. It stands as the sixth mainline entry in the series and the first all-new Virtua Fighter in roughly two decades, built for modern consoles and PC from the very beginning.
Creative Team
The reveal highlighted a creative team spanning games and film. David Hayter serves as world building supervisor and Brad Kane is the lead writer, while the scenario is led by Tsuyoshi Furuta as scenario director with Shinji Yamamoto as scenario writer. Veteran producer Riichiro Yamada oversees the project, which is being made by a team with deep roots in both fighting games and cinematic storytelling.

The guiding idea behind the project is the theme of crossroads, expressed through the omnibus story of The Four Protagonists.
