Tyronoe, also known as the Ferryman, is one of the eight sisters of Avalon and a major boss in Tides of Annihilation. She is a powerful, shape-shifting sorceress who can channel magic from her own Mirror Space Folded Realm. Her boss fight was the centerpiece of the Xbox Partner Preview trailer released in November 2025.
Background
Before her betrayal, Tyronoe served the White King as a court sorceress. She was responsible for the destruction of a region called the Whitelands and created the Mirror Space Folded Realm barrier that separates dimensions. Her title, the Ferryman, suggests she has the rare ability to traverse freely between the human world and the Mirror Realm, something most other entities cannot do.
Shape-shifting
Tyronoe can transform into a massive bird beast. This transformation is both a combat ability and a narrative element. In her bird form she commands aerial attacks and can reposition across the battlefield rapidly.
Boss encounter
The Tyronoe fight takes place across the Mirror Space Folded Realm. During the encounter, Gwendolyn and Sir Lamorak fight together using the Dual Frontline Battle System. Players control both characters simultaneously, coordinating attacks to break down Tyronoe's magical barriers. The fight requires shifting in and out of the Mirror Realm to deliver damage, with Lamorak wielding his spear alongside Gwendolyn's sword.
Mirror Realm abilities
Tyronoe draws power from the Mirror Realm during combat. She can shift the arena between dimensions, forcing players to adapt to changing environments mid-fight. Her magical barriers must be broken through coordinated dual-character attacks before she becomes vulnerable.
Arthurian origins
In Geoffrey of Monmouth's Vita Merlini (c. 1150), Tyronoe is listed among the nine sisters who rule the Isle of Apples (Avalon). She is described as skilled in herbal medicine and healing. The game reinterprets her as a combat-focused sorceress rather than a healer.
