Overview
The God Slayer's approach to weapons differs from traditional action RPGs. Cheng's primary weapons are his own fists and the five elements he channels through Qi. Supplementary weapons, equipment, and items expand his tactical options, but the core combat always returns to martial arts and elemental mastery.
Unarmed combat
Cheng's baseline fighting style is unarmed martial arts, enhanced by elemental Qi. Fire wraps fists in flame, Water propels concussive blasts, Earth launches rock projectiles, Metal conjures bladed weapons, and Wood amplifies physical strikes. The unarmed style is always available and never degrades.
Weapon Pickups
Defeated enemies drop weapons that Cheng can pick up using the left shoulder button to grab highlighted weapons from the ground. These include hammers, staffs, blades, and other melee weapons, each with their own attack patterns. A giant hammer from steam soldiers, confirmed in the gameplay trailer, sends enemies flying with its massive knockback. Weapon pickups are temporary and degrade with use; they cannot be stored in an inventory.
Enemy Gun Drops
Some enemies carry ranged weapons, and these do appear as drops. Whether guns from enemy drops are actually usable by the player remains undetermined. The developers have stated that the mechanics around ranged weapon pickups are still being finalized.
Conjured Metal weapons
Through the Metal element, Cheng can shape Qi-infused metal into various weapon forms mid-combat. Unlike pickups, these conjured weapons draw from Qi reserves and adapt to Cheng's elemental skill level.
Scrolls
Ability scrolls are hidden throughout Zhou and reward exploration. Each scroll teaches a new ability or technique, expanding Cheng's moveset. Some scrolls are tied to specific elements, while others provide universal combat enhancements.
Rare Cores
Rare cores drop from defeated Celestials and are used for significant progression upgrades. Vendors in Zhou rotate rare core availability weekly after major quest completions, providing alternative acquisition methods.
Stealth Gadgets
The Star Fall Society supplies stealth-focused equipment: smoke devices for visual cover, distraction tools for drawing guards, and infiltration aids for bypassing security. These gadgets support the game's multi-approach mission design alongside direct combat.

Unarmed Combat as the Baseline
Cheng's core fighting style is unarmed martial arts, always enhanced by elemental Qi. Fire wraps his fists in flame, Water delivers concussive blasts, Earth launches rock projectiles, Metal conjures bladed weapons, and Wood amplifies physical strikes. Because the baseline never degrades, weapon pickups are an opportunistic supplement rather than a long-term progression path.
Why Weapons Are Temporary
Pathea Games has framed the temporary-weapon design as a way to keep Combat System focused on the Elemancer system rather than gear management. Players cannot stockpile a favorite hammer or build a loadout. Every fight starts with Cheng's unarmed style and his elemental abilities, with picked-up weapons used as tactical bursts before they break or are discarded.
